Why don't they just take the cutscenes from all the games, play them back to back and voila! Instant Metal Gear Solid movie! It's already feature length!

The problem is, it wouldn't be a good movie. Maybe if you cut off 90% of standing around and repeating things? Then it would make for a good one.

As far as adapting video-games for movies goes, I think Metal Gear is a good choice, and in fact the story could work very well since it would have to be cut.

Not to say I think this will necessarily be great, but I don't think it has the same issues most such adaptations face.

Unfortunately, the whole movie will most likely be played totally straight, meaning no Kojima camp or mindscrew.

Maybe if they got like Paul Verhoeven to direct this it could work. Fat chance of that happening though.

Feature length? Try trilogy length. I don't think anyone could sit through a 12 hour movie, even if it is as nuanced and hilariously convoluted as the MGS series.

Granted I don't know how much creative control Arad actually had over those ovies, but come on, you picked the guy who did the second Ghost Rider movie, the Hulk nobody talks about, and the frigging Spiderman reboot?

As long as Michael Bay isn't involved I'm all for it. And yes, I'd love to see Hugh Jackman as Snake (or better yet, David Hayter, but that sadly won't happen).

I can just about see Hugh Jackman as a pretty good Snake but I'm not seeing where Matt Damon or Ben Affleck fit in... probably because they just wouldn't.

Ben Affleck could potentially pull off Otacon and Matt Damon could do Raiden?

movie adaptations of video games are usually terrible, but kojima's always seemed to have been born to make movies, so the more he's involved with the project the higher chances of this movie breaking the mold. i'd hope he's more involved than just a name on it.

Good to see Kojima finally dropped the pretense and cut out the gameplay from between the cutscenes.

I think the cutscenes alone are long enough to make a whole miniseries.
