The worst for me were the Lord of the Rings movies. They probably would have been awesome fantasy movies if I didn't feel the need to stab Peter Jackson every second of them. I can understand some cosmetic changes like in Watchmen (alien attack vs Manhattan attack), but I cannot understand when a dorky movie director of bad taste and braindead decides he can actually change whole aspects of a classic saga. (And after all those added Arwen scenes he could've at least shown that in the end Arwen regretted and was bitter as per the appendices of RotK novel.)
Something great ruined by being a fan.

Yes, I realize that, but it still feels like ass pull. I would have much preferred Bethesda deciding to make it a "reboot" of sorts, that way they can change whatever they want without it messing with canon. Also, another thing that bothered me was how the Brotherhood suddenly became the good guys, which felt weird. Again, Bethesda did a good job explaining it, but it just didn't seem natural.kane.malakos said:

I fall into the camp of reading Fall of Reach, and not playing the game. So I don't really care if the story's been changed since then. As someone who reads 40k fiction, and has for a while, I'm more than used to major retcons completely invalidating major persons and events.
Actually I didn't have something for this thread, but now I've thought of something.
Horus Heresy: Nemesis (and a lot of the HH series as well). Basically Nemesis is quite cool as it focuses on Assassins rather than soldiers, and very little has been made of the Officio Assassinorum in the past few years. Thing is I always thought the Vanus temple were assassins who specialized in heavy destruction, infiltrating and destroying targets with explosive force and ruthlessness. In the novel they were basically information gatherers, and not very badass like the others.
A small gripe, but I'm contributing at least.
I can only think of one. The beginning to Dead Rising 2 Case West. It starts off at the end of Ending A, but for that to be, Overtime mode and the real ending of Dead Rising 2 would not have happened. But from what I know, Case West is not actually canon.
Guh, this is what I was going to say too. Like how Cerberus is supposed to be a ruthless terrorist organization, but they never actually do anything morally questionable and instead just act super-progressive and buy you a nice ship. Or how the entire Collectors storyline is totally and completely irrelevant to the main plot of the trilogy. Or just how the sequel added extraneous glowy bits to everything, when the simplified aesthetics the technology made hard sci-fi sense in the first game.RedEyesBlackGamer said:
Smash Bros. Brawl. I got it on release, unlocked everyting worth unlocking, and haven't touched it since. Nothing was wrong with the game, it was the mentality behind it. I was the idea that you had to play it a certain way or you were dismissed as a noob. I liked the random nature and interesting stage design, but the only way I had to play it was on Final Destination, the most generic and uninteresting stage ever, and nothing else. The 3 things I can't stand put together: No items, Fox only, Final Destination. Joy, I have to use one character, play on the dullest stage, and can't do any "on the fly" stuff which is my strongest point.
