Hey Joe. The Leaves sang it first. Hendrix made it his own. I prefer Deep Purple's iteration of it.

Wynonna made a version of Burning Love that I like more than Elvis Presley's.

The Donnas Safety Dance.

I think I prefer the Iron Maiden cover of UFO's Doctor Doctor.

That's because Iron Maiden can't touch anything without making it 100% more metal. So... I agree.

Believe it or not, Disturbed actually did a very good cover of U2's "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For."

Isn't it mutually accepted that Jeff Buckley's version is like 100x better then Leonard Cohen's, hell Leonard didn't even like his version and only became popular post humorously, Though I guess the same could be said about Jeff.
For that song, I'm actually rather enamored with Bon Jovi's version.

Is there a song more covered then Hallelujah?

I respect that you disagree, but now that there's a video, I wonder what other people think.

I am currently unable to provide any video or audio, but I strongly recommend that you look dis shit up.
"Holy Diver" by kill.switch engage is much better than the one by Dio.

Check it out yo.
-there ya go.

I disagree, by the way. They did a good job (and made a hilarious video), but Ronnie James mothafuckin' Dio still did it better [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkysjcs5vFU], in my humble opinion.

There it is.

Yesterday, by the Beatles, is the most covered song in contemporary music.
Off the top of my head though I can't name one artist who is massively popular who has covered that song.

I almost forgot, for the stoner crowd, Smoke Two Joints. Here [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZfduFy26EE0]'s the original song... and no matter what anyone says about Sublime, for me, the definitive version is done by Richard Cheese.
...interestingly enough, the only place I could find it hosted was a German video site [http://www.myvideo.de/watch/4476905/smoke_two_joints_beste_version]...

It's not so much I enjoy this song more then the original, I enjoy both for different reasons.

(as soon as I figure out how to embed on the Escapist, I'm do so)

I miss the outro solo, but other than that...

It doesn't happen often, but one stands out in my mind:

Metric's Black Sheep was covered by the fake band The Clash at Demonhead in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. I loved the song, so I checked out the original... The cover is infinitely better IMO. Bree Larson sounds way better then Metric's singer. I realise this will not be a popular opinion lol.

Original is awesome too but...come on, Howard Jones just freaking rules.

I'm sure I could come up with more, given time.
I also love Aenema (Tool) by SAGE4, but I can't find a video where the quality doesn't suck.

EDIT: Gah, been ninja'd with a couple of these.
