You have to almost admire Sega, in a way. The developers are probably as familiar with the infamous Sonic Cycle [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/images/view/58849] as gamers are...
Thankfully, I broke my fandom with Sonic long ago when it became clear they'd lost the plot and just pumped out actual human garbage instead of good games.

I would go "Sega, how could you?" but the Sega of old are long dead whilst this new pretender wear's its skin like a costume. I just hope they don't pressure creative assembly into destroying the appeal of the total war series (and maybe get them to fix the damn bugs for a change).

Man, I thought Sonic was going gay for a moment then but it just looks like it's a 3-5 year old age-range attempt I guess.

Actually... I'm attracted to the concept. Cautiously. Should they hold true to that description, of "race at top speed through incredible looking planets, each with their own unique visual style," it will mean Aonic is back to what he is suppossed to do, friends or no:

They're clearly targeting younger gamers with this release, whilst Sonic 4 is clearly attempting to appeal to the Nostalgia junkies. I really don't see the issue - if Sega want to market their product to both sets of players then they can do just that, but let's not pretend that every game in the series has to appeal to those who played the first 3 or 4 Sonic games, the character has moved on - he's still a Mascot but has to appeal to a wider audience. Sonic 4 may get good review scores, but if it doesn't sell well (like Sonic Unleashed apparently did) then there is little point constantly developing Sonic games.

Sonic "fans" need to stop having such entitlement issues.
I've felt the same way for quite some time now. I played the first 3 or four games, and loved the heck out of them, still do. Do I expect every game after that to be exactly the same or else the series is OMG ROOINND 4EVARR? Not at all. In fact, I enjoyed both Sonic Adventure games, Sonic Heroes, and Sonic Unleashed as well. If that makes me some kind of hypocrite in the eyes of the fans, well... I guess I'll jump on that hand grenade.

I'm sorry can you tell me in what part of the trailer or where it was mentioned that Sonic was suckin of a guy, taking it in the butt, or bangin a guy? Because I think I missed that part....

Okay, first off. Tails...I don't mind if he's in the game. He's my favorite character from the Sonic series. Shadow, I like. Knuckles, I can take or leave. Amy, I hate!

For the love of bacon cheese sandwhiches, make a Sonic game that has Sally Acorn instead of Amy. She was a much more interesting character.

No, he wasn't. Maybe in the Japanese releases (but I don't know, I don't live in Japan). If you want to get real technical, his given name is Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and his alias is Doctor Eggman. And I think the name Eggman only showed up in the US releases post-Sonic 3.

But I will have to quote Paul from Unskippable nonetheless. "It's Robotnik, okay. I don't care if the retconned it. He makes robots, he turns things into robots, Robotnik makes sense."

Sally wasn't even canon in the first place

But like I explained before, in the English version of the Sonic the Hedgehog he is Dr, Ivo Robotnick, in the Japanese version, he was Eggman. Since the Japanese are the ones who created Sonic, that would make Eggman his name since the beginning. Even so, it shouldn't even matter in the first place (yes I'm guilty too) because he's a scientist that makes robots in who's body is shaped like an egg. So he's both.

Okay, fair point.

But I still say that Sally was more interesting than Amy. Then again, that might be nostalgia talking. I'm not sure.

Sonic really needs to do a Godzilla and not release a game for an extended period of time so as to raise anticipation. It seems like he has a new game on a constant six month cycle at present, which is doing nothing to help his critical or fan reaction. But hey, it's all about the milking.

Also, Sonic Rush was good. Why? Because it simply used the classic Sonic formula and made use of the current technology to add a few subtle twists. That's how to do it folks.

p.s. Meanwhile, Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 are rubbing shoulders with Ocarina of Time at the top of the gamerankings list. I guess the mascot war is definitively won.

It's called a joke.

I simply referenced my personal knowledge in making said joke.

Also, there are such things as virgins.
