Who are those people? They live on DeviantArt, and make Brain Bleach.

Don't let criticisms get you down, Yahtzee. If making games on the side is fun for you, do it and sod anyone who complains. As long as you're having fun. And not hurting anyone. (see above)

I was sort of expecting a review of Sonic Colors, especially since you hinted at reviewing it back in late 2010. Then again, you did say that, like Resident Evil 4, it does alright due to a plot diet.

You mean that wasn't Sonic on the first page?

Then why did the photo say "Sonic Punctuation?"

No, they merely make brain bleach necessary.

Congrats on finishing a project using GameMaker. I started to make a game on it once and gave up when I realized that the code would be openly available because of the way GameMaker works. Ignoring the fact that no one would want to steal my code anyway.

I did manage to remake minesweeper using it. Minesweeper seems to be the test I give myself to see if I know how to use a programming language because I also made a version of minesweeper in Excel using VBA.

Can he really say that the general response to Sonic was 'what were you expecting'? I seem to remember the general feel to be, 'actually, it's pretty good'. (mixed with the occasional complaint and some eternalnothingness bashing).

Anyway, eh, I'll check out this Poacher game when it's released, sounds like it could be interesting. Though I think people have every right to be overly critical of something produced by someone as hilariously overly critical as Yahtzee. Judge not lest ye be judged and all that.

I'm a total Sonic fanboy who loved generations, but you didn't get any backlash from me last week because I'm a big fan of yours and I'm familiar with your review style, and by your standards you weren't THAT hard on it. I was just happy to see a game I liked appear on your show.

Should have called it Hobo with a Shotg.. Oh wait.

And maybe the game was for Sonic Fanboys with mental disorders that mean their brain doesn't develop fast enough.

I would like to play this game of yours. Also I figure sonic is no longer valid in any form. They should just give up on sonic and spread the team to other areas in the office.

Ironically, I think Sonic was the game that changes the feel zone to zone.
Every stage had a different environment, soundtrack, enemies and traveling mechanisms.
Even though it was all the same gameplay, and many shapes recurred, (ie: the loop-de-loop), each area had its own gimmick to keep things interesting.

Did Yahtzee do this on purpose?

EDIT:

This resulted, in a roundabout way, in me discovering Yahtzee's first ever video.

LOL
I just looked that up today.
It was a Mogworld Easter-egg.

Wait... "secret extra hard boss fight"? God damn it, that sounded like a game I would enjoy up until right there! I can't do anything that requires skill! It's why I play Call of Duty. (Hardy har har)

That's pretty much the vibe I got, too. I was honestly a bit surprised that there weren't as many people hating on the game as I imagined there would be.

Between Generations, Colors, and Sonic 4, I'm honestly quite happy with the franchises current direction. I'm not saying there won't be any more bad games, but I'm not worried about a repeat of Sonic 2006 either.

Agreed. Yahtzee tore into Unleashed like it was the gaming equivalent of Hitler, Generations just seemed to get a few slaps in the face. If that. And even if he had, I wouldn't have made a stink about it. I love these newer modern Sonic stages, and I've loved them since Unleashed. I rarely expect to actually agree with these reviews.

Yes, you would have to be quite mentally deficient to enjoy this game. You are clearly superior to all of these people.

Hmm... I might actually have to this. I think playing a game that was made by an extremely caustic game critic might end up providing some valuable insight on what makes the man tick.

Or maybe it won't and I simply will have played another indie 2D side-scrolling shooter which may or may not stand out from the crowd. There's only one way to find out. Let me know when it's done. For science.
