Sony Attacked Again

At least the problem was fixed before it got really bad. I just hope that Sony will have Playstation Network and PS3s around and relatively unhackable by the time I get one for when I get one when I get a job somewhere and live in an apartment (as in late 2014/ early 2015).

I wonder who it was this time. Anonymous claimed it was them who did it last time, and to be honest, I believe them. After all, surely anybody who does that sort of thing is automatically a part of Anonymous?

But, chances are, it's just some doubting Thomas who is convinced that PSN's security hasn't changed a bit, and that they spent two months sitting on their arses doing nothing. Nice to see that we as a species have kept our intelligence over the years...

Probably just people being assholes. Hell there are some people out there that will hate on Sony simply for not being Microsoft.

I'm just hoping that's all there is to the story.

However, it doesn't really matter to me. I pretty much use the same credit card for everything online and the limit is pretty low (I actually asked them to lower it even further after the last PSN attack. I would recommend you all do the same. That way, if the shit hits the fan again, you just need to replace one card and not much can be done with it.

Whatever you do; DO NOT use your debit card.

Sony wasn't hacked. The passwords and logins came from elsewhere: old forum accounts, phishing sites, facebook - whatever. All the hackers did was try to match their stolen information with PSN accounts. Sony happened to notice this. They'll probably try the same thing with XBL, Steam or wherever they think there's a chance they'll get away with it undetected.

Sigh. Sony didn't actually get attacked at all. Hell, the system is actually now set up so that any of the accounts that someone did break into probably were automatically cleared of all credit card data.

The thing everyone seems to be ignoring is that whoever did this used a list of login/password combos from somewhere. A somewhere that has yet to say anything about losing this information.

So I'm going to be the stick in the mud here, ignore that Sony's name is in this, and ask where the over 90 THOUSAND logins and passwords came from. Seriously. I'm a little concerned about that, as you all should be too.

This is what I thought as well when I was reading the article. Still, I think the website is some kind of scam site, there are a lot of them that trick you into signing up for some small reward just to go and try your user name and password on a bunch of different sites. Hopefully it's just that.

Anonymous never claimed to have done it, and they CERTAINLY wouldn't have stolen credit-card data. Sony just said they did because people recognise Anonymous.
