I think what she is trying to say is that they knew they were going to piss of retailers. And it's obvious why. But retailers should also recognized that only selling the PSPgo and leaving the games up to online services also means that retailers will have lower overhead. But as far as the 'advertising for the 3000 model' thing....I have no idea how she came to that conclusion.
But I have question for the following:

I don't know what is more amazing, that CEO's can tell such convoluted lies or that a respected publication like Escapist would swallow them with no critical consideration.

good to hear a massive conglomerate like Sony is finally embracing it's own mediocrity.

Basically the suits at Sony talk and all I hear is this.
Of course, wouldn't be a Sony related thread without you here.

God sony, you really do know how to punch fans in the face.
If you knew it was going to be generally panned, why did you realese it? Possibly because your greedy cocks?
I have a question for you. Lets get something straight, the PSPgo symbolizes one thing: Digital Distribution. Now I remember Microsoft denying a Blu-ray enabled 360 because 'digital distribution was the future', and people were okay with that. But now that a company is actually making DD a centerpiece of their hardware, it's wrong? Some of you guys really need to be more consistent.
Don't hurt yourselves on an actual answer though. You seem so into this "trolling" thing I figured it was worth a try.
And for the record, I think the Go is a mess that I will not buy, especially since they nixed the "UMD/ digital switch" program.
