Doesnt the NGP also have download only capabilities?

Sorry if I havent been keeping up with the news.
Nope, you can download games but you can buy them on what look like little flash cards.

You guys just keep up going after this story fast and hard. I think in the past 24-30 hours i've seen 3 stories about how the psp-go is dead from you guys. Just to tell you... we all knew it was dead and those of us that didn't know it was dead on release didn't know it existed.

Fuck, then I had really better hurry up and get one. It's the most easily cracked and best suited PSP for modding.

Good riddance I say!

Horrible idea. "Lets make all of our paying customers previous library of PSP games completely useless and rule out any concept of physically owning the games"

You failed with this one Sony, it was a terrible idea and gamers were smart enough to let it fall flat on its arse.

Haven't even bought a regular PSP yet..

Sony tried way too soon with a download-only format. Even without the NGP, it's a great idea to ditch Go.

I get a giggle from the fact that they referred to it as a failure and a success. Claiming that the fact it didn't sell well equals good feedback and makes the lack of sales a success is a silly attempt to save face.

LMAO, good one Sony.

Awesome!!! YOu win!

The PSP Go was a failure even before it WENT available for purchase. The PSP Go is a excellent example that Sony TRIED to shove a new way down our throats and of course it did not work.

Any other company would have researched it first.

Oh wait....SONY. That explains it.

Couldn't see that one coming, that handheld just stumbled right out the gate and kept on falling.

I have to admit, i don't really even remember the phrase "PSPgo". The handheld does look a bit familiar, but seriously...i haven't heard of it, or I've just plain forgotten about it.

Too bad it failed so horribly.
Also, what does "download-only handheld" mean? I get that it's a handheld console (duhh!), but download only ? That everything you want to get into it, you have to download? No disks, USB ports?

Yeah, it's exactly what it sounds like. You have to buy everything for it from the PSN store and download it to the device. It doesn't play physical media.

The moment they said, "Sorry, no actual physical games allowed, download only," I went, "DONE!" and walked away. Target, the place I work, to this day has not sold a single one--at least not one that anyone is aware of.

I never understood the point of the PSP Go - Oh wait, yes I do. It was a blatant cash grab by Sony. No UMD port meant you had to pay to download every title, including some games you might already have UMDs for, a point most gamers saw.

The PSP Go. Another cash grab that shall not be mourned.
Amen. Sony couldn't really come up with anything original anyways besides Little Big Planet. The rest of Sony's products are just a whole bunch of rip-offs like that stupid wii-remote rip-off. I mean just cause you stick a pink clown nose to a black remote and improve the graphics doesn't mean it's original. I'm glad i'm not the only who sees through Sony's lies.

Fantastic. As cruel, as it may sound, this actually pleases me. This gives all something to point at whenever somebody mentions the transition to a digital only distribution market for games or thinks that a digital-download only console will be a good idea any time soon.

Long live physical media and all that.

I have a PSPGo, and personally, I love it more than I did my 2000 series. It suits my needs nicely;

- It's smaller and fits comfortably in my pocket apposed to say a giant brick

- no longer do I need to carry a small stack of UMD's with me if I wanted to play several games

- built in 'pause' function so if I want to listen to music and pick up my game from the exact point i left it at, i can do just that (best feature imo).

- better battery life (not hard to beat 4-5hrs but hey, it beats it)

- In a lot of cases, I've seen better prices on PSN that at my local EB Games.

- Bluetooth PS3 Controller support for those PS1 classic games that require 4 shoulder buttons (dunno if the 3000 does this)

- Built in 16GB HDD, my 2000 only had 1GB and EB wanted 40 bucks for a 10GB stick, FUCK THAT!

Negatives:

- From time to time, I have seen some games at my local EB Games that I will likely never see on PSN (Warhammer 40k: Squad Command, Mega Man Powered Up, Metal Gear Ac!d Series)

- There have been times when new games come out, Peace Walker for example, that have pre-order bonuses like a Big Boss Bandana, I can't get those anymore unless I wanna waste extra money.... Oh, how I wanted that bandana.... :(

- This is something I noticed day one of having a PSPGO; My old one gave me a rough estimate of how much time I had left in the battery (hours:minutes) the GO doesn't give me that information, it just has the 3 bars.

I traded in my 2000 series and 6 games, none of which I bought back, and only spent 15 bucks for a PSPGO. It's been a great investment for me, and while I understand some of the hate towards it; I think it deserves SOME love, its built for people like me.

Overall, I'm a little sad to here it's dead, though expected. Out of the 50 people I know that have PSPs; only me and one other have Go's.

The PSPGo was a failure because it is horribly uncomfortable to play Monster Hunter on it. If it worked for MH, it would have sold a ton in Japan; it doesn't work for MH so it tanked. People can pretend that it has to do with physical media (which is going away whether you like it or not) or the price point (which is the same as a PSP3000 + a 16GB memory stick), but if MH had played well on the thing it would have sold enough to justify its existence and then some.

I have no idea how my daughters hit HR7 (and still climbing) using those things, but I guess that says something about their determination...
