I wouldn't worry about the map so much. I'm in New York, which is clearly nice and green on their picture, and my current extent of what I can do is PSN is clicking on the Sign In icon on the XMB and seeing a screen that says "PlayStation Network is currently undergoing maintenance."

The update is already available to be downloaded and installed even if PSN isn't back up in your area. So go download it now so you have that done for whenever your area does get access again.

You'll get that once you can sign into PSN again.

It works like this people:

1. Get firmware update now by turning on your PS3 and going to System Update.
2. Wait for PSN to be back up in your area.
3. Sign into PSN and then you have to change your password.
4. Toss anyone who edits this list to "fix it" with the "??? profit" meme into an active volcano.

Worked for me, too.

Were people actually having issues with that?

Not sure but I used Netflix the entire time it was down I dont like using it on 360 keeps buffering probs

I just can't bring myself to dislike Kaz Hirai, he's just so adorable!

While I can't speak for everyone, I personally appreciate the sentiment that Kaz brought on. Whereas most companies would just give out a simple press release, it felt kind of special that the CEO of the place gave us a personal apology. Takes a lot of humility to give that.

Still, hopefully they'll never have to do that again...
