In fairness to Microsoft, they do replace / fix them for free. Whereas if the story is to be believed, Sony charges 150 bucks.oppp7 said:Really? Xbox 360 has around half of its machines RRODing and Sony gets sued?
The free 360 RROD repairs were outside of warranty.Onmi said:Cause it's outside of warrenty and it just happened, PERSONALLY I want to see these 'bricked' PS3's I know there are quite a few people who believe a console to be bricked but in the end it turns out they were just stupid idiots.CantFaketheFunk said:In fairness to Microsoft, they do replace / fix them for free. My brother thought I broke his PS3 when all I did was switch it off from the back, the dumb fucker beat me up for it to.
but firmware can be fixed, the RROD can'tRobCoxxy said:True dat, but we don't download RROD.cleverlymadeup said:yes cause there has been so many reported cases of this compared to the RROD that the 360 still is plagued withRobCoxxy said:PS3 fanboys whose main argument against 360 is the RROD, feel ashamed now.
Microsoft has been Sued over RRoD, although don't ask me exactly how the lawsuit went I couldn't remember. At least Microsoft offers free replacement 360s to customers under warranty, though. Sony is charging customers to fix one of their own errors, therein lies the problem.JoshGod said:have microsoft been sued for RROD? seriously i dont know. anyway i hope they are.
there could be a hardware issue, as in once they had a small group of chips that went out the door with a small but acceptable difference in them or they had to use a different chip for a small run. it very well could be hardware but in order to prove that it's going to take a lot and also can't be done as they'd have to get Sony to turn over evidence of this, which would incriminate themselves and would be illegalaxia777 said:This law suit will be either thrown out or is going to be lost by the plaintiffs in a hardcore way. I really doubt there is any possible way to show that the firmware update is the reason for the issue. If it was the firmware one would think it would effect all of us PS3 owners universally as all the PS3 hardware is basically the same. But it did not. It seems to be only happening to a very small amount of people. Mu bet is that is a hardware issue and not a software issue.
I see what you are saying. In other words a small batch of badly produced chips in the PS3's had a bad reaction to the firmware update thus messing up the Blu Ray drive/other system components. I guess this is quite possible but I would have to ask a person more informed as to the possible interactions between chips and firmware. Good luck proving any of it in court though.cleverlymadeup said:there could be a hardware issue, as in once they had a small group of chips that went out the door with a small but acceptable difference in them or they had to use a different chip for a small run. it very well could be hardware but in order to prove that it's going to take a lot and also can't be done as they'd have to get Sony to turn over evidence of this, which would incriminate themselves and would be illegalaxia777 said:This law suit will be either thrown out or is going to be lost by the plaintiffs in a hardcore way. They could save a lot more money by hiring competent programmers.Casual Shinji said:I'm sure Sony has some juggernaut lawyers who smooth things over.
Ah no, companies are not inherently evil. Greedy? Definitly! Evil? Not usually. They want your money. Are you going to give your money to an evil person? No? Didn't think so. Sending out an update that breaks your console is a case of incompetence. For it to be evil, it would have to set off a hidden package of C4 meant to kill you, or something.Onmi said:Well at least someone gets it.neurohazzard said:Why are people surprised? Sony, as a company, is evil. Pure god damn evil. I could list the shit they've pulled over the years, but it would give me a headache.
Companies are evil, inherantly! especially in a competitive buisness! All of them are so theres no reason to make one out to be more evil than the others!
