I find it funny that the people who are defending Nintendo are saying that Sony is just being a sore loser. Its funny because the PS3 and 360 actually turned a profit while the Wii slowly lost Nintendo money as sales slowed down right after they boomed.
I find it funny how you use falls information and act all high and mighty.
Nintendo was making money even when the sales of the Wii slowed down because they were still selling at least as good as the competition, if not even better. Just last month the Wii sold 171.500 units (and 113.500 3DS) in the US, while xbox sold 160.000. Sony declined to give any numbers, which is really reassuring.
They lost money because they sold 4.5 million 3DS handheld's at a loss in the first year.
[speculation]
If we assume they sold it at a loss of 50$ (remember the 100$ price drop), that's 225.000.000$ of losses just on sold consoles.
[/speculation]
That's why they lost money. The Wii was a full success in a financial aspect.
Also, this is the 1st annual loss in the history of the company.
Sony has 4 years of losses in a row and MS earns practically only on Office and Windows sales.
OT:
Generations aren't based on the power of the console, but on the time when it comes out. If the Gamecube was the same generation as PS2, then is the Wii with the PS3. It's as simple as that. Just because it's different and takes a different take on the same thing doesn't mean it's out of the generation.
Sony can talk all they want. All I see is someone begin a bad loser. Well, we lost this battle, but not really. We actually never have been a competition. What? You ask about the Mii rip offs and the motion controls? I can't hear you... the connection is bad... ente... tunn..*shhhh* *toooooo toooooooo tooooooo*.
