Wow. That is.. extremely good timing. After my exams have finished I'm getting a PS3, and the two games that have made me want to get one are going out for free.
Fuck yeah.
(Just hoping the offer'll still be on when I get my PS3..)
I don't think that offer would be available to you. I'm sure it is only available to people that had psn acounts prior to the hacking incident.

Well fuck. I have four of those games already, lacking Wipeout. I guess I'm getting that one and maybe R&C AGAIN.

Ok, great. Genuinely happy about this, seeing as I never bought anything from the PSN.
Now, Sony, HURRY UP AND PUT THE PSN BACK ONLINE SO I CAN STEAL LEGALLY DOWNLOAD YOUR GAMES FOR FREE.

inFamous and LBP are mine! Hooray!
LBP is obsolete now that the much better LBP2 is out.

Hrmmm....... inFamous vs. Dead Nation?
I'm getting both. (inFamous and Dead Nation)

You totally should, too! But, if you REALLY want whatever your other choice is, then...get inFamous. I've heard that Dead Nation is a bit repetitive even for a hardcore zombie fan.

Does anyone know how Ratchet and Clank was? Or is Dead Nation better? I haven't played anything other than LBP (already own) and InFamous (definitely going to get this one though!).

Also, is this going on now? I just went on the PSN today in the first time for a while, reset my password and everything via PC, but could not get on the PSN (maintainence) in the U.S.

Overall it's a really generous deal. Hell, the PSN is free; I feel spoiled enough as it is after those years with the Xbox Live Gold membership long ago. Now if anything, that was a Paystation Network. :p

Interestingly enough, the reason I bought a PS3 was to get inFamous, and as such, I already have it. The only other game on there that I have even HEARD of is Little Big Planet, and it never even looked appealing to me at all. Fortunately I am not affected by this whole fiasco because I don't have any credit card information on my account and I don't even have any games that have online play, so these free games are bonuses.

Out of the five games offered I already have two and don't want two of the remaining three. It would have been nicer if they just gave us our pick of two games under $30 or so.

Sony's PSN Apology Includes Free Games

Sony wants to win back your support following the recent PlayStation Network outage, and it's hoping free games and movies will do the trick.

The latest update to the official PlayStation blog details Sony's plan to offer gamers a mea culpa that it diplomatically dubs the "Welcome Back" program.

Key to this goodwill grab is a selection of free downloadable games on offer to PlayStation 3 and PSP owners. Sony explains:

All PlayStation Network customers can select two PS3 games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

Dead Nation
inFAMOUS
LittleBigPlanet
Super Stardust HD
Wipeout HD + Fury

For PSP owners, you will be eligible to download two PSP games from the following list. The games will be available for 30 days shortly after PlayStation Store is restored and can be kept forever.

LittleBigPlanet
ModNation Racers
Pursuit Force
Killzone Liberation

Additionally, the plan's offerings include free movie rentals, 30 days of free PSN Plus service and a number of free virtual items for Sony's PlayStation Home service. Different plans are available for gamers in Latin America [http://blog.eu.playstation.com/], but the core concept of "free stuff" remains the same across the globe.

So boys and girls, is this timely show of generosity enough to win back whatever PlayStation brand-loyalty you may have had before the nearly month-long PSN outage [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/109448-PSN-Down-Worldwide-Is-Anonymous-to-Blame], or was that time enough to drive you forever into the electronic embrace of Sony's competitors?
