What I want is a Batman game where Bane is portrayed in his real light, not just a retard on super-steroids.

In all actuality, he's on par with Batman in terms of intelligence, and is physically stronger to boot.

Oh, and if you haven't read this book, do so:
They did that in Arkham City, you actually talk to Bane and help him out a little bit

He is the perfect human being, literally.
That is pretty much a super power ...

I have seen a few batman things, like the poorly done cheap power ranger looking thing with the classic "biffs" and I have seen a batman movie or two (not exactly sure, I remember poison Ivy capturing somebody and Mr freeze stealing a big ass crystal or something ... not sure if it was 2 movies or the same one).

No matter what I watch I just comes across as James bond (another thing I hate) with silly suit, wacky enemies and side kick or two.

Personally, I think batman with a spiderman background would a lot more interesting. Some poor kid, with family values, solves crimes. I probably just pissed off about a billion DC nerds who are about to correct the loving hell out of me 'cos they searched for "batman" in google to correct any mistakes to his ... lore? It strikes me as a more interesting concept.

Instead of a billionaire who got that batarang thing right first time, it flew like a bad paper plane or his grappling hook snapped mid ascent making him fall on his ass, maybe a smoke bomb failed and made him look silly as he tried to escape.

A guy who is perfect getting everything right and sounding like a smug douche all the time is boring.
That is what happened, he didn't become the perfect human over night, he went into the world to train for years, and when he came back he sure as hell didn't get everything right, as someone already said, dumbass thugs nearly kill him, even later, when he first meets Bane, Bane snaps Batmans spine, but he survived and learned from it

Why is Batman great? Mr Freeze, Killer Croc, Catman, Deadshot, The Riddler, Zsasz, Clayface, The Joker, The Penguin, KGBeast, Scarecrow, Catwoman, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, Bane, Black Mask, Ra's al Ghul, Calendar Man, Dr Hugo Strange, Killer Moth, Killer Moth!, The Mad Hatter, Firefly, Scarface, and the list goes on. I'm not overly fond of Batman, I enjoy some of his stories, especially the manic moustached turn in Dark Knight Returns, but what sets Batman apart is his rogues gallery.
I agree. For some reason, Batman has some of the most memorable foes in all of superhero comics.

What? I mean, the fact that he doesn't have super powers does add to the badassery, but I wouldn't say it makes him relateable. One shared quality doesn't instantly place a character in terms we understand. Like I'm supposed to be all "Oh, no super powers? Pshaw, I know how that goes Batman. Kindred spirits brother." In fact, I'd go so far as to say he's not relatable at all. He's a billionaire playboy with ninja training and a tragic past who's given to leaping around the city skyline in his underpants. How many middle class, 1st world couch potatoes and internet fiends would know anything about any of that? Except for the whole "I plot alone in my dark cave because I'm so much smarter than everyone else" thing he does, I can't see how anyone would feel they "relate" to Batman.

OT: Batman's power does come from his wealth and specialized physical training, but it's his mind that is his true weapon. He understands people, and the criminal mindset in particular. He can infer another's intentions with an almost clairvoyant aptitude. He's not just a tough character to beat in a fight, he's "The World's Greatest Detective." It's like if Sherlock Holmes was a ninja.

Batman is cool for me because he exacts justice with fear. He's an anti-hero (by many interpretations), motivated by revenge and despair. I like his ideas about Justice, instead of just law. His moral code is strict and cynical. He's not trying to be a "good guy," he's trying to rid the world of evil. At least that's what it seems. Except Batman still doesn't kill -- he's still limited by some moral absolutes, which he feels allow him to retain his humanity and keeps him separate from the criminals he prosecutes. What I like about Batman is that he succeeds at being "good" without feeling the need to be "nice." That's why I don't like the new Batman cartoons where he's making lots of friends with all these other heroes and such. I'm not one of those that feels everything needs to by dark, humorless, and macabre. I just like my Batman that way.

I notice a lot of people love the batman, what I don't get is why.

I know you, post a thread like this and a million "I don't like it so why should anybody like it" posts pop up. What I am asking is what skills or things he does make him so epic?

Why is he so much better than the actual superhero's or even iron man, at least that guy can fly!

Ok, he can fight but so can a million other none super hero's, he solves crimes but so did Sherlock.

Just as a side note, I haven't watched or read all that many batman things but everything seems to be "drug the civvies" rather than blow em up, whats up with that? I know there are exceptions but on the whole there is more of a drug vibe to me.
1) Mortal man that constantly destroys and conquers the impossible, this is a good thing because the average Joe relates to him more then a space alien who can't die.
2) He deals with death in a manner about trying to help people and stop the same from happening to everyone.

Superman is the most boring hero to me, because he's perfect. Where's the fun in that?
Batman can lose, and does sometimes.
this, basically.

I mean, of COURSE super man would become a super hero, he's nigh invincible, why wouldn't he?
"Bullets? Hahaha, silly bank robber."

Now look at Batman. He's not super, he doesn't have powers; he's only human. If you cut him, he will bleed, if you shoot him, he will die. And yet, without these amazing super powers, Batman still decides to become a hero. Not because he had fantastical powers, not because he had to, he did it just because he saw Gotham was plagued with crime, his strong sense of morals and determination forcing him to act. So every night he goes out to face the barrel of a gun, unflinching, with the knowledge that despite all of his training and equipment, this may very well be the day he meets his end.

Now imagine if you took away all of superman's powers, putting him roughly in the same spot as batman. it wouldn't be long till superman is crying for his life, or that he very well probably would never even choose to become a super hero in the first place.

1.) Batman: Arkham Asylum
2.) Batman: Arkham City
3.) Batman Begins
4.) The Dark Knight

Those are all.

I believe Neil Patrick Harris put it best:
Consequently, The show in question also features my favorite rendition of Aquaman. Screw dark and gritty, he's King of the Sea!
Also, "Outrageous!"

I'm sorry, but this is the same argument we've heard against batman for years. It basically boils down to, "He doesn't have any superpowers, so why is he cool at all?" Sorry, but that's just plain stupid. It ignores everything that actually makes for an interesting character and story.

Sure, Batman isn't some sort of genetically enhanced or scientifically changed person with crazy powers or anything, but he's an interesting character and just a strong, admirable, intensely passionate individual. And that's awesome.

He's possible.

That's it. I could be batman. I could never be an alien from Krypton.

It's like Harry Potter, he thought he was just a normal kid and then BAM! Wizard. If Harry had always known he was a wizard the entire series would have been different and not as good.

The same applies to batman, if he wasn't just a human who has no magic or powers of any kind he wouldn't be as good.

Batman is one of the big 3 in DC comics and regularly stands in the same echelon that Superman and Wonder Woman occupy and he still holds his own without any super powers. In the end, you either like him or you don't, whatever, but give the guy his props for owning his space in a group that can challenge the Gods.

I think Batman taps into that vicious, vengeful part of the geek psyche in a way that no other superhero does.

Let's face it. If you were Batman and somebody was pissing you off you'd:

*Beat the shit out of them at night,
*Use your mad detective skills to disgrace them,
*Or buy-out their place of work and sack them.

What nerd doesn't have vengeance fantasies involving those how have persecuted or even just annoyed.

AS opposed to other superheroes such as:

Superman: Do nothing apart from what iss right. --> Eugh!
Spiderman: Whine like an angsty little *****. --> Double Eugh!
Iron-man: Ignore it/Drink/further the goals of the military industrial complex. --> Okay but not really relatable.
Captain America: See Superman.
Hulk: Hulk smash! --> Cathartic but not very subtle.
Wolverine: Wolverine also smash!
Punisher: Shoot everything with an M60. --> Fun but slightly sociopathic.
Daredevil: Beatup badguys by night after publicly defending them by day. (Seriously what the fuck Daredevil?)
Green Lantern: A magic ring that gives you whatever you want? Colors are emotions? Multiple dimensions? Sounds like magical incomprehensible plot formula to me.
Thor: Thor smash with hammer!

At the end of the day, it is personal taste.

The reason why I like Batman is ...

Let's try this again...

The reasons why I like Batman are:

1) His alter ego is flawed to an understandable point. His parents get killed in front of him and due to the justice system he decides to overcome his childhood fear of bats and turns his fear into his greatest strength.

2) His rogues gallery is one of the best. Ra's Al Ghul, Joker, Clayface, Two-Face, Penguin, Black Cat, Zsasz, and all the countless others are extremely well-written.

3) While he is a detective, his physical prowess is virtually unmatched with another human/mortal. Through his iron will and his disciplined mind he can overcome any obstacle or setback. the Knightfall story arc is a brilliant example of this.

4) He is one of the most respected superheroes among the Justice League. Because he is able to think tactically when the others are just smashing away. He is so respected that Superman gave him a Kryptonite Ring in case he does rogue. While Superman could've given it to the Flash, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Martian Manhunter or dozens of other, he chose Batman.

But again, it is a personal choice. That and his recent movies are brilliant.

Again, that does happen. In Batman: Year One by Frank Miller he goes up against some common thugs and almost gets himself killed. It's a great story that shows his mistakes and how quick he is to learn from them.
Also the film you describes, with Freeze and Ivy, is Batman & Robin, which is one of the worst films of all time. I'm so sorry you had to see that.
Batman also puts his billionaire status to good use, being a philanthropist.
I have seen another batfilm where he was in a temple training or something but while the film was legit (as far as I was told, although thinking back...) it was just dark as fuck and I couldn't tell what was going on, so I stopped watching but it never really hooked me.

Batman and robin didn't seem THAT bad to me, kind of liked bane in it.

I think batman has the best baddies my fav being in my badges (scarecrow is second due to his name) but the actual hero sucks to me, just a douche with cash.
Bane was terrible in that film, just god-fucking-awful. Bane is a genius, in the Knightfal storyline he releases all of the inmates of Arkham to go after Bats at once in order to wear him down and then succeeds in breaking his back. It's brilliant. In the film he's some mindless, speechless goon.
The film with the temple sounds like Batman Begins and that film is brilliant, that training scene is my favourite part.

I can see your point, Yahtzee says in his AA review that Batman is always the most boring part of whatever he's in and that is true in a way; Batman is defined by the city, the cops, the villains, the crooks etc.
At the same time, his personal struggles with Catwoman, Talia Al Ghul, his past, his loneliness and his inability to trust all make him relatable, to an extent, and that's another thing that makes him rule. He's human.

Ignoring the actual super powered villains, there is no way you could perfectly throw his weapons or fight your way past 50 lackies etc

So, you have all these super villains all trying these crazy ass plots when they could just blast him away? Sounds like a pretty serious flaw in batman universe to be honest...
