This is an apology to the members of the Escapist who have seen my posts over the past couple hours. In the time immediately after the announcement of the Premium Memberships (or, rather, after I came on and saw it), I completely overreacted. I'm still against premium membership on principal, mind you, but, after cooling down, I realized that I blew everything way out of proportion. I actually really, seriously considered leaving the site, as a few others have.

I could go into why exactly I was so pissed (and I will if asked), but frankly it's up enough places around the site. However, I just want to apologize to everyone on the site, and I promise to cool down before posting next time, since I've done stuff like this before.

So, anyone in the same boat as me?

Well I have done angry posts before(it was more personal though) but its okay. I'm not sure why you should be so miffed about the membership, I wanted to contribute to The Escapist, so I did(plus ad-bans are awesome). This is still the place you know and love.

Also I hold no grudge against you for it.

I may have upset some people today, but I do not have the will power to refute these claims.

I cannot and will not recant anything, for to go against conscience is neither right nor safe. Here I stand, I can do no other, so help me God.
-Luther

That is how I feel, and recanting anything I've said is something that is neither just, nor smart to do.

I've said that you are all a great bunch of people. Because you all are a really great bunch of people. But that is it. You are a great "bunch". And the sire has lost that human element to me, you're all great people, but I hate not being able to find discerning viewpoints, or having strangers tell me that I am acting strangely.

I really do like everyone on the site, but I doesn't mean I care for them. And if you're going to sit here for a second and tell me that you care for me, then you are a liarSure you would say, "shame, he was a good escapee", but you'd move on. Not that I'm expecting people to cry, but heck I want at least one person to be like, "that guy was really cool and I miss him a lot"

You've all become pleasant acquaintances, but just that. I've lost all my good friends here, and that is simply the bottom line.

I haven't made any angry posts yet, although I've wanted to. I try to keep a pretty tight leash on myself in that regard.

I harbor no ill will towards you. Getting angry isn't unforgivable, and I don't remember your angry posts anyway.

Exactly. The more higher ups that leave the more noticable I'll become.
OT: It's OK man. I've done that a lot before.

Well I'm constantly angry so by that definition I always post when angry. Presumably if I posted while mellow it'd have links to fucking blogs about bunnies and flowers.

It's okay. I in fact just did it a bit ago in NewClassic's thread. I don't want our members to leave! We are one of the factors that make it great, and I'm not to happy with the whole premium membership to. But unfortunately I think that it will help the Escapist with some things. I don't blame you for getting mad and I'm happy that you're not leaving.

I got a message about premium membership, didn't bother to read it. Just glanced at it, went "Meh." and moved on. I suppose I'm missing something that's pissing people off, but whatever.

OI! You already got me to stab myself to make my tears manly! What else do I have to do to prove my internet love?! :p
Besides, with you gone, the profile link loses its founder, and godzilla will never truly invade France.
At least, he damn well better not.

I'm glad you've cooled down, Orannis.
And I can forgive you easily.

Simply put, you know those "OMG, the Escapist is dying!" sentiments that come up occasionally? I don't really believe that is true, but hear it enough and then get an announcement like this which "proves" it, and...

I'm still against the premium memberships in principle, but I've cooled down enough to see the other side of the argument and see why people may like it.

Its quite depressing.
As explained above, bottled up rage. The PubClub was just the catalyst, for me as well as, I imagine, for some others.

With you there. I just read it, shrugged, and deleted it. Didn't seem worth burning brain cells for it.

TW-It's cool. We all have bad days. No worries.

We all get pissed off now and then. It's not like it's unforgivable. Now, have a cupcake *passes around a plate of cupcakes*. I saw something mentioned earlier about cookies, but I want cupcakes!

It's cool, dude. It's not like getting peeved was against the law or anything... Unless it is now. I myself was a bit miffed at first but then I was over it and was 'meh' at it.

Of course you're forgiven, Orannis. Hell, if I wasn't forgiven for all the angry/mopey/drunk/mostly drunk posts I've made on here, I'd have been run out of the community on a rail. So don't worry man.

Never made an explosively angry post before, but I am millimeters away from doing so.

I kid not. The amount of emotions, rage, and thoughts going through my mind right now are so significant I am physically becoming sick.

No, but I'm against premium membership as well. It just seems like a big ole' cash grab.

Luckily most of us realize this for what it is...

Anyways. We all kind of know that it's a bad idea to post in a pissy mood, just look at MaxTheReaper.
