I think it would be a safe bet that EVERYBODY on this site is against SOPA. If you are here and you are for SOPA...

I almost forgot that flaming people was frowned upon on this site after saying whatever I pleased on Reddit.

I'll tone it down: If you think that there is any side to be on other than ,"Sopa needs to be stopped" Then you're a corporate shill and too old for your opinions to matter to the rest of society.

Both sides are shit, but SOPA is the ultimate display of a bunch of idiots with no understanding of the situation punishing everyone for the actions of a few.

If we consider this a war, I will fight alongside anyone against SOPA.

Kind of offtopic: Will escapist do anything like this next wednesday also?
I've asked the Tech Team if they have plans to join Reddit, Mojang and hopefully Wikipedia in their protest blackout.

But they haven't replied yet.

Feel free to help support the idea.
http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/chat/Tech-Team

It falls on ZP day, which I believe would be most effective.
How would shutting down the escapist help any... when almost everyone on the escapist is already aware of sopa and against it?
Well, you've certainly noticed that the site comes to a crawl on ZP days because of the extra traffic, people who are here for Yahtzee and nothing else. They might not know about SOPA, so that'll raise awareness for them at least.

I'm against SOPA because of the amount of additional power it grants corporations.

That said, in the off chance it passes in it's current form I really doubt we'll see much change. There's a lot of doomsday talk so to speak about the end of sites like youtube, twitter, facebook, etc if this law passes. I feel that this is just taking things to the ultimate extreme and would simply never go that far. Just a personal opinion of course.

I don't know if it'll be months or years...but I'm in full support of the intentions set in motion by SOPA and hope that solid anti-piracy laws will become a reality.

As much as I'd love for something unfortunate to happen restricting people to types of media in a another country... me living in Australia... No doubt-ably this would screw everyone over except those who implement it which would end up in a snowball effect making the website blocker take control over more than just sites pertaining to piracy but also anything that could be considered to be "bad" in the governments eyes and sure enough this would end up being used ion every country... which would suck balls.

Middle of the road, as in i don't give a shit.
Really i would say no to anything like SOPA and oppose the hollywood companies who back it so there is your answer.
But it pisses me off when sites like this or TGWTG has banners or something opposing sopa just so they can protect their jobs.
I doesn't effect anyone that makes under 2000 for video so most people on youtube are safe.
As long as it doesn't take down pirate bay or megavideo i can live with it.
I know, how dare people that rely on the internet for their livelihood take a stand against an unconstitutional bill that would literally take away their jobs? The fact that downloading the next episode of some shitty sitcom or crime drama is more important to you than a bill that could destroy people's lives is actually kinda sad.

Most of there operations don't seem entirely legit.
They make a lot of money anyway, and why should i care about such a small amount people who live in a first world company.
You know what SOPA might actually do some good(be it that they have to fuck up a lot of shit to get there) to the dying industry that is film.
And you know what i don't give a shit about those people, because i haven't met them
and they don't effect me.
I mean do you give a shit about the 25,000 people that die every day from hunger.

For it.
I just have a morbid curiosity to see what would happen in the end. To see whether or not it would be this internet apocalypse that everyone claims it will be.
I know it would be a terrible thing for me in the end but I can't help but be insanely curious.

Um . . . I'm not on either of those two sides.

Let's be clear about this; SOPA will not stop pirates.
Pirates will carry on, business as usual, SOPA or not.

So, I'm against SOPA. Does that make me a pirate?
No.
I think he just meant which is the lesser of two evils?

In which case, pirates every day of the week. SOPA can go fuck itself.

Megaupload is down, and you what it's not even a US website, sure they can block it from the US but it doesn't make any sense that they can subject a hong kong based country by American laws
(lawyer loopholes is how

Also why doesn't anyone give a fuck about NDAA which is way worse, and Bradley Manning remeber him?.
