I'm amazed at the 'no gaming cafes within 200 metres' law. I'm not being judgemental, I'm just interested that the government think something like gaming is that big a threat. Then again I guess this article proves evidently it is. Bit of a sad situation from every angle really.

Just a little note : We all do stuff for more than 12 hours a day, if you sleep 8 hours, you actually do at least 16 hours of whatever in a day. Doesn't have to be the exact same activity, even if it is, it's not 12-14-20 straight hours of video game that would kill someone. Also the young man went for a quick meal home and collapsed few hours later. Actually, they don't even know what killed him.

Someone would cross the door of a casino and die there an hour after, media gonna say he was a compulsive gambler who probably died after losing all his money, house, car and family... and might have poisoned himself in a suicide attempt.

12 hours? Is that it?

Not to sound heartless or anything, but I played Final Fantasy Dissidia for three days straight once, trying to beat Chaos on Inward Chaos Mode.

And way before that, one summer, I played a single FFA Insane Mode game of Dawn of War: Dark Crusade for 10 days straight.

Am I, like, superhuman? o_O

holy shit this is a bad article, contradicts itself, stupid sensationalist title, inadequate research. go write for the daily mail or something.
probably just a pre-existing medical condition of the kind that kills some kid playing sports every so often.

Twelve hours? Me and two other friends beat that with MW2 and Timesplitters: Future Perfect.

And I'm not suprised a South Korean died because of this, it has happened before actually.

Did you know that 13 people die frm vending machines each year. I'm sure that there are a couple of people who die from reading books each year as well.

Shit like this happens when there are 7 billion people on the earth..

Playing videogames probably did kill him. In the same way that fucking drinking solidly for 12 hours every day will kill you. Sadly people don't seem to understand that moderation is the key to everything. (I'm not talking about the guy that died but the people that will undoubtedly use this to try and bolster their argument to ban games.)

I really hope games don't end up looking like alcohol. I want my kids to be able to enjoy a decent game once in a while... honestly addiction is preventable with responsibility.
