It also appears that the censorship only applies to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, as the PC version will remain intact and uncensored.
FUCK yes!

But seriously, why only sensor the console versions?
Many people see the PC as a platform used by adults and consoles as platforms made for a younger audience.

The PC version probably won't require a gaming PC, so most console users should be able to play it on their PCs.
Yes but the point is the so called 'younger audience' should not be playing this game in the first place.

I think people and parents in particular need to wake up and realise that games (for the most part) are not being made for children and haven't been for quite some time. Also the mentality that gaming is a childish past-time needs to end. Only then can we move past all this censorship bullsh*t.

I'm pretty sure that the UK is part of Europe, guvnuh. No need to add it seperately.
I think he mean't to say EU as in all the countries that follow under the European Union which last I checked the UK was not part of the EU and have their own rules and guidelines they follow that may differ just like any other country would unless they are part of a coalition like the EU which as last I was told is a cluster F to put it lightly...

My suspicion is of why the PC version remains uncensored is more along the lines of "because PC users would just find a way to patch the censored material back in, anyway."
I would guess it has something to do with the ease of pirating an uncensored version and the sheer terror publishers feel at the notion of piracy. It's an odd reaction to be sure.

---

I honestly think the censored version will be funnier in a way. But why does this happen in the UK? I honestly don't understand.
It happens the same way in any country that has this bs happen and that is political bs. One thing all of us in the world have in common and always will have is craptastic politics to ruin everyones day...

Member state since 1973.

In fact, there's been a lot of talk about them leaving recently.

They are not members of the euro though.

When it comes to separating the UK from the rest of Europe, well that's more a matter of practicality because the UK tends to be a bit more on the sane side. You expect countries like France and Germany to play censorship games back and forth with the US just because they can. To be honest I do have to admit I'm a bit surprised because the UK is where I've imported from before to get around censorship issues with the US. When "The Witcher" first came out for example the US version was censored, so I imported the UK Collector's version from overseas (and paid a decent amount for it). It somehow seems wrong to me (almost bizzaro-world wrong) that the UK would be censoring a South Park game coming from the US. If I had to guess this is all part of some much large trade-based tit for tat back and forth between nations which the UK happens to be involved in. I kind of expect the UK will eventually let the uncensored version in eventually when whatever political game us normal people aren't seeing finally simmers down. Basically we're probably seeing government muscle being flexed across a large number of products of which this happens to be one, just to demonstrate that the UK can be difficult if it wants to. I just really can't see the UK caring about South Park for some reason.

It's not being censored by the government, it's Ubisoft. It's also uncensored on PC. To me it sounds like UbisoftEAME just couldn't be arsed (or more likely willing to spend the cash) to make separate versions for the different regions.

Also, *Insert smug PC Gaming Master Race comment here*.

This was my thought as well. "They're just going to hack it back in anyway, so why bother?" That, and the fact that there's no real way to regulate digital copies either, so basically censoring is a crapshoot with the PC.

I just hope that there's an option in the game to *BLEEP* out the swear words. Not because I'm squeamish but rather because I noticed that the bleeps tend to be funnier than when the actual words are said a lot of the time.

Does the game ship with a sack of sand and a shovel in those teritories? If not it should so that players can give them to people whom are offended by this and have them burry their heads in sand.

It seems rather uneven and arbitrary to censor the console versions but not the PC version.

I really think the people involved in these decisions are either hopeless stupid or utterly deranged.

Not the PC version huh? Guess that solves that problem, I'm getting it on Steam! Sorry xbox I'll buy a game for you soon I promise (maybe).

But seriously this is a game for adults who I'm assuming are fully aware of just how gross South Park can be so really they aren't expecting anything else. I can maybe get the whole abortion thing being too much but seriously anal probes? That was in the first episode! It's just not a South Park game without anal probing!

I love this bit.

in the Australian version, the scenes are replaced with the image of a crying Koala
I was all ready to not buy the game after reading the headline then I saw that the PC version is intact so it wouldn't have an impact on my platform o' choice, which is odd. Now I'm not sure whether to just buy it or pretend to have solidarity with the console comrades and not get it for a few weeks. Although given the price on Steam I'm going to wait for a discount either way, plenty of games to play until then.

I was willing to buy the ps3 version that was £10 more expensive for that controller/sofa experience, but I guess now I'll get it on pc, which I can play on sofa with controller, too ,but slight effort to move speakers over. Unless hdmi out of gpu can export sound to my tv. I've been meaning to look into that.

Can we PC gamers get the option to see the censorship images in our release? A crying koala with the audio running sounds hilarious.

"However, it seems that in South Park's case, it isn't just a matter of Aussies being prudes, as BT reports that the The European (including the UK)..."

Was about to go mental, until I read "It also appears that the censorship only applies to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, as the PC version will remain intact and uncensored."

Now I'm happy again.
