Anddddd... Not a single ****ing comment on it.

Anyone else suffered this though?

Yep. I guess people have much more to say about Bob Chipman's content on another site entirely [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.934808-Has-MovieBob-been-fired-from-ScrewAttack] or Anita Sarkeesian for the 100,000th time [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/663.933085-Anita-Sarkeesian-tries-to-cop-a-look-at-Batmans-butt] than someone who's spent weeks making content for the site and posting it for everyone to see and just simply comment on a bit.

I'm sorry, I'm trying not to rude here but I'm really kind of ticked off and let down...

I do movie reviews (which you should totally go read because my opinion is super good!). I have done about...twenty of them so far. ONE of those reviews has gotten a reply (a whole bunch actually; Star Wars Force Awakens [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/326.932256-tippy2k2-tells-you-what-to-think-Star-Wars-The-Force-Awakens] and I am 99% sure they got all those replies because I was down on the movie more than others and I think I struck a bunch of nerves in the process...)

That's freaking brutal. At least my shame gets hidden behind a computer screen; I can't imagine how much of a kick to the ego gonads that must be...

Some friends of mine on this site run an LP series on YouTube, in which they regularly make reference to the three viewers they have.

This is also part of why I refuse to put Google Analytics on my personal website. I just don't want to think about the numbers that site gets.

I basically made at least one screenshot for each world in the game but there's much more to it than that. These images were ripped straight out of the game, rendered in full 720p with 0 stretching or upscaling, the highest HD res I think you can get out of the original game without having some serious problems. And finally, on top of all that, all the items and characters from the scenes have been removed completely, leaving behind just the levels to admire and look at in awe.

That sucks... I did read your review though. :3 I don't actually go to the User Reviews forum section though so that's why I haven't seen or commented on your stuff.

Heh. That's pretty funny. They must be more popular than that...

I hate to be the douchebag here, but dude... Manage your expectations.
You simply took a bunch of screenshots of a game that's between 8 and 18 years old(couldn't find any info about which game you used). Probably there's not a lot of people around who are as enthusiastic about this game as you are.

Ummmm... Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie are at the very LEAST moderately popular games. If you look on any top list of N64 games, you're 9 times out of 10 gonna find at least one of the two games in there somewhere. And even further, how could you NOT find any info on a search for Banjo-Tooie on google? I'm just saying... And finally, there's much more work that went into this than just going to a bunch of random spots and taking screenies here. Please read what I said above in my last post.

I checked its wikipedia page which listed a series of games, but, as far as I could see, you didn't specify which of the games you ripped the screenshots from.

I'm not judging your work of the effort you put into it, but with the Escapist being visited by so many people for so many different reasons, you're kind of appealing to a niche of a niche audience here.

Um...have a cookie I guess?

I mean, you're saying you did it "for this site" but did anyone from the site actually ask you to do it? Were there throngs of Banjo-Tooie fans messaging you and begging you for this content?

I'm betting not.

You didn't do this for the site, you did it for yourself because you thought it would be a neat project and you shouldn't be lashing out at the the people on here if no one cared about your work. After all, no one asked you to do it in the first place.

What exactly were you expecting anyway? What wouldn't have been a let-down?

I feel ya bro. Besides a few reviews that have click-bait titles and some really random ones I was lucky to break fifty views on most of my anime/manga/japanshit. Being a mod seems to help though, as I'll the reviews I've done as one have more views than normal. Maybe that blue name that sticks out like a sore thumb helps.

Um... A few comments? Compliments and/or criticisms? Stuff that was awesome. Stuff I could have done better. Stuff that sucked... I'm not expecting people to shower me in utter praise for my goodness to the world here but is it REALLY that much to expect some comments on what people think of it? Believe it or not, I really wouldn't mind if people derided it to hell. But no one said a thing about it and forgoed all my work completely. What am I supposed to feel?

And yes, actually. People did ask me. Here specifically: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/9.934469-So-Cracked-used-one-of-my-images

Heh, that's nothing; I used to make cartoons on Newgrounds. Most of them were bad and I ended up deleting them, but there were a couple that people sort of liked (even if I wasn't happy with them in the end). I only got 1 trophy for a Minecraft Cartoon [http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/580718]. Had my old laptop that had Adobe Flash not die out on me, I would still be making cartoons today, but clearly I wasn't super popular then.

The problem is this site has too few users. Back when we had a sizable user-base you would have had at least some of the hundreds(thousands?) of daily users interested in a niche project like that. I feel the same way whenever I try to start a discussion on some old game or tv show and watch it flounder with 3 or 4 short replies while the latest controversy thread is going on 4-5 pages. There just aren't enough people to support niche projects/discussion.

Has it really been 2 weeks? Man, it feels like that was only a couple days ago, I feel like I went into a time warp.

Well, he did the same thing for Banjo Kazooie, and looking back on that it was received positively.

2013. There's your problem right there.

The site was way busier back then, and people were probably more enthusiastic about personal projects and stuff like that. Nowadays it seems people just want to argue about whatever internet fight is going on.

Having said that, OP, maybe you should do your future projects because you want to. Not because you think people will appreciate it.

I tried to show my vector work once (basically tracing an image and recolouring it). Though I didn't make a whole thread, I still got 0 responses. Now I only do it for my avatars, because I'm the one who see's it the most. Tough break but it's probably gonna keep happening if you have high expectations of getting feedback from here.

He's right, you know.

Heck, I write for fun and I'm always looking for constructive criticism. I have to hunt people down to actually give me any. There is nothing more crushing than absolute apathy towards ones creation, but that's what you'll be getting most of the time. That and "It's cool I guess". I spent a week writing a story for which I researched Scandinavian mythical beasts and translated some shit into Swedish for authenticity. All I got was "It's nice".

If you want feedback on your work, I'd suggest looking for a site that is more focused on what you do. Escapist is a big hot mess of topics.

Well if you are aiming for popularity then rule no.1 is to give shit a really stupid name, "Banjo Kazooie Gone Sexual!!11!" or something of that nature. Hell you have been on this site for long enough, just read some news article titles and you should get inspired for some good marketing BS.

If you want people to take your work seriously on the other hand don't do the marketing dogshit.

Yeah OP, I can understand why it's really discouraging thing to happen, but the odds weren't stacked in your favor for that thread. Forum traffic's in the toilet recently, it's an old game (Even if there was a recent collection release and it was cult classic), and the existence of high res screenshots is unfortunately one of those things that you don't appreciate until you can't find them. It's like sound design in games, loads of work goes into it, but generally if it's done well you don't give it a second thought.

Even though I haven't played Banjo Kazooie myself, I always appreciate the people who do stuff like this. I wouldn't consider it wasted effort though, there's Wikis for the game, and there are going to be people who are just driven mad with being unable to find screenshots of the game who'll stumble upon yours. I know that there's been many occasions where I wish someone did something like this

Thanks everyone for the comments. Gave me at the very least a little perspective.
