Oh wow, it took me awhile to stop laughing at this.
So it looks like we do get some interesting news over here every once-in-awhile.

News site, though it's in hebrew, and there are no pictures: http://www.nrg.co.il/online/1/ART1/854/528.html

Israeli Spiderman!

Apparently a few days ago, a young man dressed in a Spiderman suit, tried to 'free' citizens who were stuck in a traffic jam on road 444 near Rosh Ha'ain. Frightened drivers called the police when they spotted the man jumping from car roofs and swinging ropes around, trying to form a web to help free the drivers from the jam (how though, I have no idea...). Shortly after police cars arrived at the scene and arrested the man, who they deemed to be mentally unstable. They are now questioning his identity.

One day later after his arrest, the young man somehow managed to escape custody and very shortly after went back to helping the poor drivers who were stuck in a traffic jam on route 6. The police were called in again, but by the time they got there, the man had escaped.

The police are still trying to figure out how the man escaped from custody. According to a police officer of the Sharon district, the young man was not even questioned when he was brought over to the station, but was simply identified via finger prints and was sent on his way.
The Rosh Ha'ain police depratment has denied this statment, saying that "the suspect was brought in the station, and was even recognized by the investigator for similar incidents in the past. He was kept at the station for interrogation, but his traces disappeared after that" (really retarded...).

I guess the police must still be searching for 'Spiderman'.

I don't understand the writing, and there are no pictures!
Sounds like an amusing story, it's a shame no one filmed it.

That's why I translated it? :p
But yeah, lack of pictures is disappointing. Everyone's got a cellphone with a camera in it these days. And the people were stuck in a traffic jam, it's not like they had anything better to do. So why didn't they take one. Dx

Haha, yeah. Can you read it?
Ah, but you could be having us on... It could say 'Spiderman was seen dogging in a car' and we wouldn't know XD

Of course I can read it. :p You can try Google Translations or something and see for yourself.

I'm embarrassed on behalf of my Israeli counterparts. The guy's obviously either crazy and needs to get a job or is really crazy and needs to be locked up. And they let him walk away? As long as he doesn't start killing people, I guess it's not that bad.

They say the Real spider-man is crazy in the comics all the time. Maybe we just don't understand what this Spider-Man is trying to do.

(Wait, would the Real spider-man be the fictional one or the one that lives in the real world?)

Well, technically he was trying to do good...I think. He may not be totally in touch with reality, but it doesn't seem like he was hurting anyone.

If this happened in London, there'd be pictures everywhere on the net for a week or so: Spiderman on the M25 part 2... Then he'd either get splattered by somebody using the hard shoulder or arrested by the police who'd have him locked up even though he's not a danger to anybody (that's how the system works I guess).

Actually we have some crazys around us, a mental hospital closed a couple of years ago and these people weren't any threat so they were allowed to walk. One guy called the "Wizard of Sutton" not sure if he's still there or not. Dresses funny, has a dog and a cat. People take pictures with him occasionally. Bus drivers let him on for free XD. Also there's this other one but not as funny - a woman keeps going around asking people if they've seen a 5 pence coin she dropped. Frankly I'm not sure how they survive (eating and all that) but it is entertaining to a degree - breaks up the mundane routine of the day really.

I'm not sure if this made the news (probably not since there aren't even any pictures to show), but it's election time anyway. It wouldn't be deemed important enough. >_>
I can undertand about the crazies though. This old lady who lives in our building keeps asking me if I live here (and I do, hence the 'our'. For 3 months now), and she keeps asking me if I have any kids...even though I look 16. >_>
I guess it's considered slightly different, but it's still annoying just the same. Still, I'm sure those people have someone that's taking care of them.
I mean, they don't look like hobos, do they?

Why? As bigfootmech pointed out, if this was in England he'd probably be treated as something of a celebrity, a national hero even (ok, maybe that's going a bit far). We love our crazies we do. I think it's pretty awesome.

I agree. Besides, Israel gives me plenty of other reasons to be embarrassed.

Well the problem with crazy people is they don't always know what's right and wrong; this guy might take the acting like a superhero thing too far and start killing people he thinks are "villains." I'm not saying he's going to, but I don't trust crazy people, as they're so unpredictable. He should atleast be evaluated so it is determined he isn't a threat before he goes back out into the world.

Well the article did say that they were going to give him a psychiatric evaluation. But I think he 'got away' before they had the chance to.

That is true, but it's entirely possible he has been evaluated, admittedly I don't know the system in Israel but I had a friend that was not entirely all there and sometimes he'd be taken down the station for odd behaviour, the police would call a doctor from the psyche ward, they'd explain that he's not dangerous (or at leats he wasn't at the time) and they'd let him go.

Hahahahaha, I guess Jake Gyllenhaal is trying to get in some practice so that he can live up to Tobey Maguire's Spiderman.
