Splinter Cell Voice Actor Doesn't Like Violence

Well, it's not like he actually had to kill anybody during it. That's the mo-cap guy's job.

This is kind of a sad article. Not because I don't agree about the violence thing, but because he abandoned his morals in the first place for money.

Morals don't pay the bills, I hate the capitalist system but I still go to work and pay my taxes so I can afford to buy you know food, pay the rent, etc.

The only people who can let their moral guide them are the ones who don't have to worry about money, either wealthy or without responsibilities, by that I mean say a priest doesn't have a family to feed, he can stand by his moral convictions and starve if he wants, I couldn't do that to my family who need me to bring home the rent money.

But it wasn't a life/death situation. He just wanted the money.

He is fairly well known but he isn't exactly an A list actor with tens of millions in the bank, he might have a nice house, a nice car, and a nice life style, but turning down jobs that will cover the cost of a new car or maybe your living expenses for a year? not going to happen.

When you've got a family you just don't pull shit like that.

I suppose. Still kinda despressing though. That's why I'm a socialist.

Mate I agree with you, but I'm also a realist, if the world went to hell tomorrow, that is no power, millions dead, and it was me and my family out there in the wasteland I'd kill a man for a sack of rich or can of beans without any hesitation, I can admit that to myself.

If I was on my own I might consider taking a risk and offering to share, or maybe sticking to my morals and letting him go, but with my family at stake I'd kill him and take it. It's human nature, morals are wonderful things when you can afford them, but otherwise you have to go with what works.

Well this just goes to show that people will go to great lengths in the pursuit of wealth.

That is funny, considering some of the film roles he's taken over the years.

And Fisher isn't all that violent when he doesn't have to be, even if he threatens people. Though they did give people the option in the later games, I suppose. Even then, there were some good moments where they let Fisher's human side shine. Maybe that is Ironside's doing.

Say what you will about him and his pacifism, but you can't argue that he makes one badass Fisher.

This reminds me of when Matt Damon didn't want to do Mo-cap and VO for the Jason Bourne game because he doesn't like violence.

To be fair, I think the problem there is that...well...the Bourne in the game seems a lot more willing to beat up, kill, and otherwise harm cops that are in his way without thought. But in the movie, how many people does Jason Bourne intentionally kill?

PS: I'm conflicted, he didn't like the third and 4th games. That means he hated Double Agent like the rest of us, but he DIDN'T LIKE CHAOS THEORY!?

Fucking hell, I positively loved Chaos Theory. That was the pinnacle of Splinter Cell perfection to me.

Hmm... considering all the changes that Mr. Ironside has requested for the Sam, I wonder how flat a character he would be without Michael Ironside. Would we ever have had a choice whether or not to kill Dahlia Tal?

Also, to everyone picking on Ironside for his role in Starship Troopers, that film was actually very anti-violent and anti-government.
