So yeah, when I first was introduced to multiplayer games, they usually had either split-screen coop or deathmatch or something, but still in split-screen. Since the introduction of online multiplayer, it has pretty much died away and you rarely see games with it. It's either online or system link.

Have you ever played split-screen and what do you think of it nowadays? Should it be included in most of the games, which are possible to play online?

Also I'd like to use this chance to shamelessly ask if there's some good coop split-screen game you'd recommend. I've heard L4D on xbawx360 is pretty good, same with Gears of Wars. :3

Resistance 2 is okay for split screen. Most of the problems just stem from not having a large enough screen to play things on, in my opinion.

I play Halo 3, Left 4 Dead, and Mario Kart split screen most of the time, and I think it's way more fun having your opponent( the pwnee) sitting next to you(the pwner)when they get defeated( pwnt)

I dont think that L4D has Splitscreen
I use to play RE5 and Resistance Splitscreen. Its just an other feeling if you play with someone who sits with you in the same room and isnt just some guy in some country you dont know

I've seen xbawx360 having split-screen... but I'm not sure.

Split-screen is far more fun in my opinion anyway. At least that way I can punish retards, since remote strangling device is still under development.

My friend Jon and I are currently playing through RE5 on split screen co-op, I don't mind it but if possible I always prefer to play my multiplayer games online.

The new UT3 update on PS3 allows for 2 player split screen with bots. tried it last night with my brother, and it was great fun. The only problem is that the timer and map in Warfare dissappear, which make finding nodes a bit tricky at times.

I can't play on splitscreen, I always end up looking at the wrong one.

Yes it does! It even has support for a guest LIVE account so that you can play online with just one LIVE subscription! Plus the regular offline coop!
My wife and I play it online VS all the time!

I really enjoy split screen, but i really doesnt work anymore...

I had an xbox, but i dont have a 360, but a lot of my skills from halo 2 etc transfered onto halo 3 when i played it at a friends house. We had a mini tournament thing on it and CoD4 and i was amazed at all the screen watching that went on. Split screen gaming has so many flaws when the other party screen watches and they know the maps off by heart. I was clearly the better gamer out of all of them; if we had been playing over xbox live i would have won hands down, but their screen watching spoiled it!

I love playing with other people in the same room. It feels more social to be able to turn and chat with the person as we blow things up. Also, no Internet anonymity. If my friend acts like a jerk, I can pound him.

Split-screen should be in every console game that has multiplayer or co-op. I hate that almost no games nowadays have it.

Split-screen, the screen of champions.

I'd recommend Halo 3 for some split-screen co-op. And if you can get Xbox Live do go for the Vidmaster Challenge: Annual achievement.

I love split-screen co-op games. I have a roommate who is just as big of a game player as me, but he's a cheap bastard that won't buy a console or another tv for the room. So, when I get a game that has co-op, he and I play the hell out of it together. Case in point, resident Evil 5. I bought that game on a whim over spring break, thinking I'd play it through just because of the awesomeness that was Resident Evil 4. When I got back from Spring Break, he and I booted it up and ended up playing for about eleven solid hours, something neither of us had done before. The look on his face when he checked the time...priceless.

Also, while playing Resident Evil 5, my girlfriend came over and watched me play for a while. I convinced her to join in, promising that I'd help her and we'd lower the difficulty, and that I'd never tell her friends that she'd picked up the controller. Like I figured, she was absolutely awful, but the whole me fighting through hordes of zombies protecting her while she tried to figure out the controllers gave me lots of boyfriends points apparently :p

Playing with someone right next to you and having to rely on them for help and vice versa is a really great way to build friendships up. You have to learn to trust one another, learn when to call each other out for being reckless, it's a great experience overall.
