The first few seasons were and still are amazing.

The movie is still one of my favorite non-Disney animated movies of all time.

Post-film, though, it just went on a steep downward incline in quality. Now, I can't even bear to watch a single episode made between 2005 and now. They're all just so... dumb, like they're trying and failing to appeal to six year olds' sense of humor.

And these days, the show just looks like crap as well. It used to have a sorta simple appeal to the visuals, now everything is far too detailed, and they're going for the gross-out humor too often, resulting in FAR too much detail in many things. And the focus they're putting on new characters every other episode is dumb as well, since they try to put more detail in their faces to make them an obvious new character. It just annoys me.

Spongebob is great. As in, the show. In the show, Spongebob by far isn't the funniest character. That's Patrick.

To be honest, some of the episodes have made me laugh so hard in a random sort of a way. I don't think I'd ever sit down and watch it by choice, but sometimes my sister does (She's 19) and I usually enjoy it.

The show's dull, Spongebob and Patrick are annoying, and the only good characters in the show don't appear as much as would be preferrable (see Plankton).

Some of the older episodes were great, but my litter sister was watching some of the new episodes recently and not only were the jokes awful, the premises were bad even for a Spongebob episode. I heard they canceled it, and that's exactly what needed to happen.

I like Spongebob when Nickelodeon plays the older episodes, although some of the newer episodes have the occasional funny joke they're overall very unenjoyable for me..
