He started out awesome, had a good run but then turned into.... Not to be a hater or anything, but he turned gay. Like, actually gay. He was just a nice guy but then he became increasingly.... flamboyant. No offense to the actual homosexuals.
Anyways, the shows are still entertaining and will always be to me, but it still isn't as good as the start. Imagination box was the best god damn episode ever, besides the one where he lost his identity.
EDIT: Dammit, I am gonna go to Hulu right now and watch the shit out of Spongebob episodes.

Yeah its pretty awesome but I've heard the later years of the show have been a disapointment, but back in the early 2000s the show was gold. Also best episode goes to Band Geeks laugh-out-loud hilarious
The first few seasons up until the movie were absolute comedic brilliance. Seriously, the only other cartoon I can think of that is comparable in it's amount of excellent episodes/quotes/moments/etc. is The Animaniacs. The movie was fantastic as well, being one of the few films based on cartoon/animated franchises I've ever seen that was actually good.
Once the creator left (which was after the movie was released), however, the series took a steep nosedive in quality. While there were a few good moments here and there, from 2005-2008 the show became a disappointing pile of mediocrity, and from 2008 on the show has become nothing more than a festering mockery of what it once was.
Despite all the crap its produced, those few seasons of brilliance from 1999-2004 are so fantastic that they make up for what its become. Still sucks that such an excellent show had to become so terrible, though...

Ah Spongebob. That was such a fantastic show back in the day, it even spawned a really good movie. After the movie though, the show for me kinda started to suck a little.

The porn cartoons, the stickers, the logos, the adverts, the youtube channels, the ties, the lunch boxes and most especially the appearance of Spongebob Squarepants versions of songs in Rock Band 2 should be napalmed, retroactively if possible, into something not even bacteria would eat.
