Yeah, I was being facetious when I said I almost hope my Buckeyes lose; of course I want to win, if nothing else, for all those men who hit the Michigan wall the past four years of their collegiate career; a natty would be at least something to be proud of and increase their stock for the draft.

And as far as Will Howard, I don’t' follow mock drafts much at all, least of all this soon before the draft and conclusion of the college season, but I don't seen a National Championship winner falling out of the draft. There are too many teams still searching for a solid QB1 to let a solids QB2 or 3 pass them by, and who knows, Howard could easily be a QB1 in the right system and talent around him. People throw around the term "game manager" for QBs with a very negative connotation, but the fact is that's exactly what some systems need: someone with good awareness, protects the ball, and is available to deliver it the way a given system mandates. Everyone seems to think the Patrick Mahomes, and Lamar Jacksons, and the Josh Allens, and Joe Burrows, or rookies like Jayden Daniels or Bo Nix are setting some sort of standard, and that’s simply not a reasonable case. They are by far and away exceptions, generational talents, unicorns; if any team in needs passes up an adept QB because they’re not throwing for 300 yards a game with 2-3 rushing TDS and no interceptions is going to be waiting for quite some time. Someone like Howard is ripe for the picking and has proven he can thrive when given ample opportunity.
Oh I agree. I actually see him as being, potential wise, kind of similar to his K-State predecessor Skylar Thompson. Neither one were seemingly "NFL bound." Thompson fell to the 7th round and really only saw any actual playing time as Tua's backup. A guy like Howard could drop earlier in the draft and under the right circumstances could do considerably better in terms of career. The problem is, when talking QB's... everyone is looking for the 1st round unicorn. And when you need a solution due to injury or what have you... there are a lot of "didn't turn out to be that unicorn" QB's bouncing around. And turning to one of them makes a bigger splash than drafting a qb at round 6 or 7 and having a solid QB2 or 3 for a decade or so.

So I watched the second week of the new TGL (TMRW Golf League) last night. For those who might not be aware, it's a casual league for professional golfers played indoors using a massive simulator and rotating green with hundreds of actuators that adjust the contour to match the green on the screen (think "Top Golf for millionaires.") It was entertaining enough, though no match for real golf. I think the most entertaining part was seeing the golfers, typically austere and focused on tour, actually having fun and enjoying each other in friendly, no-stakes competition. There was one shot taken by Kevin Kisner that was so bizarre and bad, it had all 6 golfers laughing themselves into tears! I haven't seen Tiger Woods smile like that in years; he looked like he was enjoying golf again despite playing like shit (they all did, honestly, but there were smiles all around.) The atmosphere is also the polar opposite from PGA tour golf; it's more like football or basketball with music blaring, and the relatively small crowd in the arena making tons of noise.

Yeah, it looked like a good time; I bet being there in person would be a blast, but I'll watch on TV if there's nothing else on.

I dont care about the NHL at all, but wtf kind of name is the Utah Yetis when the Utah Raptors is right there. Fyi, Utahraptor is like Velicoraptor or Deinonychus, but bigger. Seriously, why is there even a discussion?

Maybe because the NBA already has the Toronto Raptors? I know there are a few exceptions, but it's generally uncommon to see a team name/mascot cross sporting lines. But yeah, "Yetis" was just dumb, and like you, the NHL could fall off the face of the planet, and I'd not even notice let alone mind. They've put a boring sport in a boring state, and they tried to give the team a dumb name; sounds like a winning formula to me. Hell, just call them the Utah Mormons. It fits, and the Mormons are too nice not to let them have it.

Well, if we're going that route: the Utah Polygamists, or Pollies for short
