I had the urge to replay them this summer. Sadly, when I went to look for the PS1 Spyros all I found was the horrible PS2 Spyro that I had.

I appear to have lost all of my Bandicoot games too.

I had all of the classic Spyro and Crash games on PS1 and they ruled my life day and night.

The only one I don't have anymore is Spyro 1 which broke, and it still hasn't come to the PS Store!

I absolutely love it and the other Spyro games on PS1. I've finished it 100% about 5 times. The gems are pweeeety.

I've loved every Spyro game i've played, and i've played them all (except for A hero's tale) And I know that the vast, VAST majority of people on here hate the new ones and hope that they would all burn in the darkest pits of fiery gaming hell, but I enjoyed them alot. Andi'll actually say, I'm looking forward to the new one.

Also, Spyro (the first one) was the second game i ever played on a PS1, and i was hooked. Mostly because of both it was good gameplay, and the fact that you were a bloody dragon. There's not many games where the main protagonist is a dragon.

Good ol Spyro. I remeber countless hours I spent playing all 3 of the originals. I always loved how my big sister would play the skateboarding levels in the third game with me.

Funnily enough years after I played Spyro it led to me meeting my first(and to this point my only) girlfriend. Of course that led to my losing my sex drive for months so things could have gone better for me if I had been a bit more intelligent.

All in all, Spyro out of all the games I have ever played had the biggest impact on my life. I cry at night knowing how butchered he is now. Sometimes I cannot understand how retarded game developers can be.

I know a fair number of folks hate them, but I enjoyed the "Legend" reboot trilogy. A straight-up brawler, followed by a platformer with brawling, followed by a flying game with platforming, brawling and a touch of puzzle elements. The music, visuals and storyline were quite nice, the art style was good, the control and simple gameplay worked... it was an enjoyable trilogy that was very different from the original PS1 trilogy in many respects.

Of course, I also enjoyed many of the same things about the first three games (though there really wasn't much of a tale being told in the PS1 games). Very different in style, atmosphere and all that, but still fun.

First three games equal classic.

After that...erm...well...there was a DS game released that was pretty good.

Spyro the Dragon, Spyro: Ripto's Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon are still my favorite platformers of the PS1 era. I still have all three and I go back and play them occasionally to remind myself of how good level design is done. Insomniac rules.

Thank you for mentioning those games here. Made me happy.
No problem, glad I could share some happiness!^^

Well, this thread seems to be dying now, but I've read every response, and from what I can tell Spyro 1, 2 and 3 have been quite important for more peoples gaming careers than mine. It has been fun, since it's the first thread I've started here at The Escapist. Well, 'til next time, people!

Spyro was the first game I played on my new PS1 as well - I have many fond memories of it. The sequel was good too.

The only one I ever owned was the one where you had to go around a free other dragons from giant crystals.
I think I got up to the boss fight before the final fight and never beat it since the bastard kept running away from me too quickly...

I also played another about getting eggs from, well, everywhere! Tunnels, enemies, inside the belly of a whale..

There was also another for the Gamecube that I can't remember what it was about.

Spyro, along with Crash Bandicoot, gave me all the PSOne platforming goodness I could ever want.
Same here and they were fantastic and also bloody hard.

KILL IT! KILL IT WITH FIRE! AND BURN DOWN THE SEIRRA BUILDING!

I will not allow one of my childhood heroes look like... THAT. I just barely accepted Teen Spyro in TLoS: Dawn of the dragon. BUT THAT!?
This is Activision's fault.

Ah Spyro, such fond memories of that game, I might be melancholic about my childhood but I still retain Spyro was a great game :) It was my first platformer, but my very first game was Heretic on the PC - or what passed for PCs in those days :D

Of course I loved spyro on the PS1. but I agree that the recent ones have just been cringe worthy. Although same can be said for a lot of franchises.

I will however admit that I kind of enjoyed the latest crash bandicoot on the 360. mostly because it was just taking the piss out of itself.

side note captch: food etteral.....wth? dammit I'm hungry now
That awkward moment when a former Playstation exclusive wasn't released on the newest Playstation..

I had the PS1 version. I had kicked my PS2 on happily as I had the box for the reboot in my hand. After I had played it, I had burnt the box and threw the Disc into a trash-compactor.
