So are you mad that the rest of the series is going to be ps5 too? I dont understand the complaint. Generation crossing game is moving to latest generation. Makes sense to me.
Thats like being upset that horizon 2 is ps5 when the first game was ps4.
A sequel is one thing. A piece of DLC from a last generation game is another. This was the scamming shit I was talking about. DLC for a console most people don't own, can't afford at the asking price for now, and most likely can't due to scarcity and scalpers jacking prices. Great fucking business model Squeenix! I get the next game is going to be PS5. That was inevitable. It's making DLC for a PS4 game as PS5 exclusive content, in a world where PS5 are still hard to come by for most people.
And again, the whole "Chopping up the backstory and selling it as DLC" feels really sketchy after the XV debacle. It implies SE learned nothing other then how to milk the consumer base and...oh, god...they're going to Kingdom Hearts this aren't they? Buy 17 games spread across 200 platforms to get the entire story! There's a reason we don't know how many parts FF7R is going to have, despite such planning being a requirement for a project such as this and I'm afraid it's because FF7R is going to go indefinitely until the series ceases to be profitable or they've resold the entire compilation + DLC + tie-in movie + anime + novels.
It makes me kinda mad I got FF7R as a gift already because it really doesn't make me want to give SE any more money knowing they're probably to engage in shit like this. Or, if I really must play it, wait until the GOTY edition with everything included drops and pick it up for $20-$30 in a few years. Like I've been doing for a while now. I just figured there wasn't gonna be DLC for FF7R remake so I didn't need to hold off.

Well statistically speaking, massively high numbers outnumbering traditional gamers 2 or 3 to 1.
Though in terms of that.... I dunno that trying to spin one ofsaid traditional franchises works quite as well.
Isn't Remake being done by the Kingdom Hearts director to begin with, so that'd be kind of expected.
Although as a point of order.... that was literally the case with origiinal 7 too. All the spinoffs and such.

Yes the ps5 is hard to get right now but that isnt really in there control and they were likely developing this dlc and long before the ps5 even launched so how could they have know the shortage would be an issue?
The plan always was to move to ps5 and i think they wanted to use the dlc as a bridge to get people over to next gen. The fact that sony fucked this whole ps5 bullshit up isnt really Squares fault and you cant pivot development plans like that. Especially considering the ps5 problem is temporary.
I find it curious that this Square Direct was exclusively focused on the western division of Square with its eastern divisions nowhere to be seen. Considering Square has both iconic western and eastern series this should probably have been important to tell people beforehand.
From what I saw these are just the games ported, but not actually upgraded in anyway which is what bummed me out. Unless I'm wrong.
Yeah, a fun game is, using only the contents of original FF7. Try and write a description of what a SOLDIER is, and describe Sephiroth, Zack, or even Clouds personality. (Keep in mind, 99.5% of the time you interact with "sephiroth" in 7 its actually Jenova clones cosplaying)
MGSV was released cross gen nearly two years into the next gen cycle, but that’s a fairly rare exception. Also, while I did play Ground Zeroes on PS3 because I wanted dat new MGS fix, I was prepared to wait for the main entry so I could experience it on PS4 without any technical corners cut.
Just so we're clear, I was not exactly a fan nor supporting of that method either.
