Is it just me in thinking that those two look alike? Like, super alike?
I am more than happy and willing to give a new actress every and all chance to take on her own role in a new film, but I can't shake that either she's going to only be used in some kind of flashbacks or some kind of stand-in for Padme.
Jeez, not all white chicks look alike, jerk.(kidding)

She's likely Leia's daughter. Picked for strong family resemblance reasons.
Calling it now ... her name will be Padme Solo.

Kind of amazed that there is only Carrie and Daisy as female leads, I mean really? I know EU is dead but come on there were more females out there then Leia and her daughter. Mara, Tahiri, "Scout' from the Clone wars, Tenel Ka, Mirax Horn ... plenty of strong female charater found in EU and JJ could only come up with one for the new trilogy? I don't know, just seems short sight really.

Oscar Isaac was brilliant in Inside Llewellyn Davis and how he didn't get an Oscar nomination still irks me, He'll be brilliant in this. Adam Driver in ILD As well, very good casting from my point of view.

I recognize a couple names, but I'm glad to see that they aren't pulling off the current "most famous" lists.

Blame parents for this one as much as JJ. Parents buy Star Wars toys for little boys, not little girls, so the roster is going to reflect that.

I am expecting a solid movie but nothing revolutionary. Disney has too much invested in Star Wars to let this one be bad. Most remakes are a cash grab centered around the movie itself. Disney is playing the longer game here: merchandising and the expansion of their library of viable brands. The last thing they want is a cut rate movie further damaging the brand.

But it wont be for us. It might be good, but it wont be for us.

To the people complaining about male:female ratio in the casting so far, there's some good news:

"Abrams likely has several other surprises up his sleeves, so fans who were outraged over the male-to-female ratio (six-to-one) amongst new cast members would do well to relax. Abrams is still looking to cast a major female role, which will likely be filled by an actress of mixed race."

I get a REALLY bad feeling about this. For one, no Billy Dee Williams, a man whose voice is so sensual even his performance in Tiberium Wars was entertaining. For another, bringing back All of the old actors to reprise their roles for a movie which came out 40 years ago. I mean, they aren't bad actors, but there's a reason there aren't that many people who do action movies past age 60. There's RED and The Expendables sure, but you can tell they really had to work around the physical limitations of the elder actors to make it work and it was only really passable because both movies were really cheesy to begin with.

Not that star-wars is super serious, but it was definitely more straight-faced than the other 2 I mentioned and I fear how well this will turn out if the movie is focused too much on the original actors and trying to appeal to the "fans" rather than making a good NEW movie.

I like that they've taken a lot of actors from more atypical stuff, it isn't just a bunch if action stars and blockbuster actors. One from Inside Llewyn Davies and one from Frances Ha and ofcourse: Max Von Sydow. This could turn out to be very interesting, they are great actors!

And Mark Hamill is basically doomed, this movie is bound to end with him being killed in a lightsaber duel.
