So, you're gonna say to my face that if any of the beloved women of the EU was the lead character for the new trilogy, most of whom were the leads in their own novels, comics, and videogames with nary a complaint, that would somehow inspire legions of sexist nerds to descend on her like they did Rey? freaking REALLY!?
If he won't, I will. Well, he did, so I wouldn't, but still.

And since he's already handily addressed these, I won't go too in-depth.

Oh yes, because Luke and Anakin are SUCH sues. Remember that time Luke pulled off the mind trick in episode 4 after watching Obi-Wan do it once? Oh wait, he never did that till episode 6 and training.

Well remember how Anakin was beloved by EVERYONE he met? Oh wait, the Jedi never really stopped busting his chops, and Palpatine was obviously manipulating him.
Huh. Those sound like strangely specific and cherry-picked examples.

And not true, since Rey was not beloved by all. Seriously, if you're so strapped for arguments as to why she's totes different that your examples aren't even real ones, perhaps it's tie to reevaluate. Although despite being a moody little brat, Anakin was pretty well liked.

Well remember how Luke and Anakin came out of their first fight with a sith untouched and unscarred? Oh wait, both lost their hands and were utterly thrashed. Heck, the second Sith Luke fought would've effortlessly killed him without Vader stepping in.
Which one of them had been seriously injured beforehand? Or fought someone else beforehand? Which one of them hadn't had a serious fight in...well, most of their lives? Which one of them hadn't constructed their own proper lightsaber?

The answer is neither. They both faced powerful Sith who had major training and had demonstrated their own prowess on a much better level who were fighting, essentially, in their prime with no mitigating circumstances.

Kind of falls apart on even a remotely even level.

Well remember how Luke single handily blew up the Death Star with a shot only HE could accomplish? Oh wait, Luke was nearly killed twice in that battle, having to be saved by Han and Wedge, and it was a difficult shot but not impossible, and even then Luke stated that he'd made such shots before back home.
Rey blew up a Death star? Must have missed that one. Or are you trying to argue mitigating circumstances and help while pretending there were none with Rey?

This isn't a case for there being problems with Rey. It's a case for special pleading.

I've only really got one thing left to say here, if only because it's ALL I need to say.

Yes, I'm really going to say to your face that the new protagonist of the new Star Wars trilogy is different than the leads of some comic or novel. You can pretend otherwise, but then that just means that, to you, the new cultural touchstone of a blockbuster trilogy is the same as some random EU novel or comic book.
Some comic or novel. Some comic or novel. That just about says it all right there. All of these beloved stories and characters, and you relegate them to "some comic or novel". You are so determined to see things through some eternal women are constantly persecuted complex that you'll write off things fans have loved for over a decade pritty much because it doesn't fit your world view.

No no, ignore all those beloved female characters in the hundreds of stories they've been in and even starred in, clearly the only reason Rey is hated is because she's a woman in the lead role of a MOVIE.

That's very arbitrary and unless it has changed I believe against forum policy.

Anyhow, It's not really unsubstantiated, you admitted it yourself that there's a stark contrast between the original trilogy and the first movie in this new trilogy + these new casting additions.

Perhaps you might want to do some research into the term unsubstantiated.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/unsubstantiated?s=t

Do you have any evidence for your statement? Can you verify or prove it? No? Then it's unsubstantiated. You see diveristy, and made the statement implying they were chosen because of that diversity and you have no way to actually back that statement. That's the very definition of unsubstantiated.
