Hmm, $100 for only a third of a game?

Uhh, there is NO amount of 'awesomesauce' that can cover up that ugly turd.
Oh please. No, it's $100 for a full game that's going to have two expansions. Weren't we past this already?

Oh, so I get to play the Zerg and Protoss stories in this game as well? Ok then, that is a full game. Otherwise, it's not.
It has just as many missions as the first StarCraft. It has a much more fleshed out single player other than "do mission X, win, go to mission Y." It will have missions playing as other races.

That's like saying that because you didn't get the full story (since half of it - The UEF, the Zerg wars, the growing dominance of the Queen of Blades - was in Brood War) StarCraft 1 wasn't a full game.
Mission numbers are less important than the basic beginning-middle-end premise of a story, something Starcraft 1 had. It told a story, not a fully complete one as there were some open spots to fill in with an expansion and a second game, but it followed beginning-middle-end pretty damn well.

Now, I am sure that we will get a beginning-middle-end for the Terran campaign, ok, but since the total story involves the other races, and we know that in order to get a complete plot we have to play the other races' campaigns as well, then obviously Wings of Liberty is not a complete game.

Might actually have to cave any buy this. I keep skipping collector's editions, but I've just passed up too many now, and this one looks amazing. Besides, if the pet goes for a lot, I recoup a good part of my costs. (If not, my orc warrior is gonna have a bad ass pet to run around with)

...yes, it is. It's a complete chapter of a story that's being written as a trilogy, told from three separate points of view.

Are the Mass Effect games not full games because they're written as a trilogy? Are the Lord of the Rings novels not full books because you're only reading the first part? What about the Star Wars movies?

It can be part of an overarching tale but still be its own, self-contained story with a beginning-middle-end.

Cool. I have no idea how to work Steam and I recently (i.e. 5 days ago) played Starcraft for the first time and I have been looking for a copy of the game that isn't pirated. This will serve quite nicely instead as I have been following Starcraft 2 and I will most definately get it if my computer can run it...

My computer cannot run Company of Heroes on the lowest settings so I am a bit worried about that...

well said good sir, well said

i mean, its not like they did the "Halo 2" and left you waiting for a resolution

they just "expanded" on a previously explained plot and history.

Mass Effect 1, yes. If left alone, it was a complete game. Making it a trilogy means that in order for it to be complete, you need all the parts. Same with SW: A New Hope. It in itself is a complete story, but adding in the incomplete middle of Empire REQUIRES RotJ in order to complete the story.

Breaking a large story into 3 bits DOES NOT make each bit complete. There can always be unanswered plot threads or other ways to expand the story, that's fine. Finding ways to continue on in that particular fantasy world is something writers need to figure out so they can continue to expand. However, having what is a complete arc, beginning-middle-end, is what makes a complete story. If Wings of Liberty only covers the beginning of the arc, then NO, it is not a complete game. The whole story together REQUIRES the other two 'expansion' packs.

And of COURSE the Lord of the Rings books are not full books, you HAVE TO read them all to finish the story.

This is probably going to be one of the first Special Editions I get.

Unless Diablo 3's is better.

I am sooo preordering.

$100 though is pretty steep. If they would have some kind of bonus involving the next games (discount, even more useless yet entirely awesome "fluff") then this would be PERFECT.

And the USB could be pretty helpful in getting my friends to finally try Starcraft out.

100 bucks is a lot for a game.. i usually don't pay more than 30 euro.

But holy jebus. So much stuff. And it's STARCRAFT. Ofc it lacks Lan and it's regionlocked but STARCRAFT II o_o

I'll have to delay purchase of a new computer until I've obtained one of those, I think.

EDIT: Wait, 100 dollar? If they're going to 1 dollar = 1 euro than I'll personally invade Blizzard accountant's offices and choke the person in charge.

That's... actually really awesome. Considering I paid this much for the BioShock 2 Collectors Edition, I might just have to waste another hundred bucks on this.

They're making a comic series? And people say Pokemon is getting too big...
OT: I buy the game and maybe a poster/shirt, but that's all. Only ever got a special edition when I got Starcraft, and I wouldn't even do that again if given the chance.
