Just to inform you, Steam currently has a sale on 'horror' games, including Bioshock and Amnesia. Just telling you guys. I've already nabbed Bioshock, thinking of L4D2.

Yeah. I got L4D2 for $7 or so. I'd been wanting to get it for awhile, but it's been too expensive for me at $20. Really glad Steam sales exist.

Is Painkiller the FPS ZP talks up a lot? Well, I thought there was an older FPS ZP liked, and mentions from time to time.
Yeah, it's that one. He mentions it a lot in the Hard Reset review. Apparently, it's simply run-and-gun madness.

Already have Amnesia, found it to be "meh." Already have L4D2, also found to be "Meh." I'm really tempted to get Bioshock, but I'm trying not to spend anything on games because I plan to buy Skyrim next month.

Yeah, it is. The game is also available on GOG, but that one's 9.99USD instead of 2.49 that it is on steam.

EDIT: Damn, someone already did this. Sorry.

EDIT2: I just bought DMC 3 + 4. Wouldn't have spotted this otherwise, so thanks!

Prediction: You will find Skyrim to be "Meh".

Dang, I better get it for Xbox and from Gamestop so that I can return/exchange it.

It's $5. I know what it's like to save money, but I don't think you'll find Bioshock to be 'meh'. Its story is almost unparalleled in gaming, its literary depth is fascinating, and its atmosphere is top-notch. With a Metascore of 96, you really can't go wrong anyway.

Oh, no, it's all well and good. For $5, I'd buy it just for the collector's value even if the game is absolute trash. However, I'm just trying to save my money for Skyrim---the downside of becoming independent.

Yeah, I'm getting all 4 from STEAM.... fingers crossed my PC can play them all, but for $5, I won't cry if it can't.
I wouldn't be worried, as they're really old. Sometimes I have problems with my computer playing them too fast, and have to use task manager to slow it down.

it wasnt that scary when i played it...
technically supposed to be scary. had a pretty creepy atmosphere, and at the beginning, and through the medical pavillion, it is scary as hell (especially to jumpy people with no experience with scariness at all really).

anyway, if only i had a credit card. i guess i will have to convince my friend to gift me the stalker bundle and just pay him in cash. that could work.

I picked up Cthulu saves the world and I'm at a toss up between checking out the STALKER games, or the Penumbra bundle. Any recommendations? Letting you know my laptop isn't the best graphically, but it can run Left 4 Dead.

I'm sad that I bought L4D before the sale, but the others I totally picked up. I've been playing Penumbra. Scary shit, also filled with a number of epic sounds I'm going to sample for sure.

I love Steam. That sale on GTA recently was insane. How can I not pay 12 bucks for ALL of Grand Theft Auto?!

Painkiller for $1.24? Bought. Unfortunately, I'm pretty broke otherwise I'd get some other things.

Also, just to warn some people: I bought Bioshock on Steam a while ago for my computer with Windows 7 64-bit OS, but have never been able to play it (this may have been fixed, haven't tried recently). It would crash right after the splash screen normally and the only way I could every play it was if I put in the launch property for no sound. Just a heads up.

Stalker may be a bit harsh on your laptop maybe, but maybe not. It's insanely hard and a great deal of fun. Penumbra is amazing, well written, atmospheric... Let me put it this way: I love horror games, I've been addicted to Resident Evil since I was 7 (it started my love of zombies) and Silent Hill 2 is up there on my list of all time best games.... So I'm pretty hard to scare, usually horror games just give me a very pleasant continuous adrenal rush.

Penumbra makes me scared to play it.

Quite impressive. And totally going to force me to play it much more. Also like I said it's extremely well written and immersive, though Stalker can claim the same actually.

My vote, if pressed though, would be Penumbra.

Your best gauge would be which you prefer: Mutated creatures you can shoot in the face but that are obscenely hard to kill scary, or mutated creatures you're supposed to hide in a corner from while looking away so you don't panic and give away your location waiting for the sounds of their clawed paws to move deeper into the pitch black cavern so you can dare to venture out scary.

I'd love to buy a few of these, but honestly, I can't justify paying for anymore games on the PC right now. I already own far too many, and I've been incredibly distracted with console games. Not to mention my bed is far more comfy than that horrid chair in that horrid room under the not-so-horrid stairs. I choose you, comfort! Sorry, PC, but you'll just have to wait a lil' while longer.
[small]I tried, my beloved PC, I tried!!!!!![/small]

But more on-topic, there are some absolutely fantastic games on sale, most of which I'd strongly recommend.

Try it again, it was working fine on my system which is running the same OS. I actually heard the same thing about GTAIV but it's running absurdly smooth on my PC (I've now played that game on every console, and it's pretty clear why my PS3 is collecting dust right now...).
