No game is so special that it aught to be liked be everyone. Someone can like Life is Strange or even Heavy Rain, and not like Devil May Cry 5 and Sekiro, and still justifiably claim to like videogames.

This is exactly why people pushed back against all these stupid journalists that complained about Eve's appearance. The arguments were purely superficial and only based on surface level appearances of a character for a game in which these people had no fucking clue what it was about or how that sexy character would even be portayed. Yet when people defended her design, everyone acused us of just wanting to "fap" or called us pigs. But we push back because we know the arguments about appearances all always ignorant and superficial mean to spark nothing but controversy, or even worse these "wokey" jackasses only do it because they have been given the power to do so and they know if they scream loud enough the company will change something ANYTHING to bend the knee at least a little bit.
In reality they don't actually give a shit about Stellar Blade, they just want the rush of making a billion dollar company bend to them at least a little bit.
It's dumb either way, and last I checked not many journalists complained about Eve's appearance. Most seemed indifferent, and Easy Allies are all in. I've seen far more and worse from the alt right fuckheads getting overly upset and "offended" for "not having enough women like Eve" "in their games", even though there's plenty of hot women in gaming. Also, Eve's appearance is the least of the character's issues. As Sphere pointed out, Eve has the blandest personality in all of of gaming protag history, that really doesn't shine until about 80% in the game. I know T & A is a thing, but at least put some personality behind them if you're going to do that. Even DOA and Ninja Gaiden got this right.
Which makes you part of the problem and even bigger problem. I don't know why you're saying "we". You might want to be buddy buddy with the sexist and racist jack ass supporting this game for the shallowest of reasons (I know not all, but a majority of them doing this are and happily threat and harass anyone not under that pathetic standards of beauty), but I want no part in it. Even if I got interested in the game, neither of the sides will be in my head space. I am playing the game for me. Not you, not the journalist who have problem or don't have a problem, and I sure as fuck not doing it for the ultra conservatives/alt-right pretending to be fans and being co-opting parasitic leeches that wormed their way into nerd culture. They are far worse than a few bitchy journalists no one cares about, but those the latter fools I just mentioned. This makes your fight and pathetic "push back", even more silly and stupid, because the game is doing fine by the people playing it or interested for the right reasons. You admitted to even hating this game, and not liking it, so you just contradicted yourself and it shouldn't even matter to you. I am not dragging this out and all I have to say on the matter.

Man.. my reaction to Eve's appearance was to laugh. From what I saw that was more like the skeptical reaction. Not some SJW hairy-armpit-feminazi wokepatrol. I'm sure you can dig up isolated examples of the latter but generally it felt like all of us who don't go online to yell fake politics at each other just thought that game looked kinda dumb for that, as is the case with all the hentai-baiting anime porn high school bullshit. And I'm gonna continue laughing at it because it's 2024 ffs and I can't believe we're still doing this shit.

Both can also be true. There's certainly things about Nier: Automata that I can see why people like it, but it's not too hard to see why people might also kinda hate it.
I kinda feel sorry for the devs. Did they ask for the far right to become the standard bearer for their game? It always strikes me as kinda offensive if you make something and the worst people out there flock to it.
I believe they just wanted to make an action game with a hot girl and pay homage to Nier and nothing more.
The hypocrisy of it generally because for as much as people argue regarding how sexy women are fetishized by "gooners" and "porn addicts" many of the "diverse women" people are pushing for to be added to gaming are due to people fetishizing certain characteristics in women and it not being a widely known about enough fetish for people to call them out on doing in when people will make jokes about Tarantino deliberately doing it just because it's his fetish.
It's the hypocrisy of it and trying to pretend it's some higher more moralistic thing and not just because they have a sessions wrestling fetish (and yes that is the name of it you're welcome internet)

By this definition everyone was made "ugly on purpose" since the game goes for photorealistic visuals compared to the cartoony concept art. How is the top picture different from the final ingame model other than artstyle? Thin: check. White: check. Young: check. Red hair: check.
What has been made ugly then? Face shape, eyes, chin, even the eybrows are exactly the same. The only noticable difference is the hair and the nose being slightly thinner. The only thing that you can actually point at that makes the picture on the right look less apealing then the one on the left is the uncanniness; looking lifeless and empty. You know, that thing we used call games with realistic looking characters out for before we got all paranoid about pretty girls being taken away from us. That thing that simply showed developers aren't there yet when it comes to avoiding the pitfalls of photorealism.
