Hmm, the only thing that could possibly be better than Stephen writing for Dr Who would be Ben Elton and Stephen Moffat writing for Dr Who, the Doctor being played by Stephen Fry.

That should be the next christmas special. I'm writing to the BBC!

And as a side note, is anyone else excited to see the return of the Weeping Angels in Series 5? Blink was by far my favourite Tennant-era episode, and I can't wait to see how Moffat (who himself wrote Blink) brings them into the fray again this time round :)
Dear me, the Weeping Angels were horrid. I mean in the descriptive sense, as they did seem pretty brutal. I loved the writing for that one, especially the video which kept replaying as if it was talking to her, it was fantastic.

I'll miss Tennant the most, but I think I like Matt Smith. I was worried he wouldn't be amusing until the last bit of The End of Time Part 2 where he got angry about not being a ginger still. Right then, I was like "Everything is going to be alright."

I always liked Dr Who, and Stephen Fry wirting the script will certainly make it even more awesome.

But do you know what would be an even better show?

"Stephen Fry reads things", it's a half hour show were Stephen Fry reads books, magazines, newspaper articles, etc in his cool soothing voice, millions of people across the world would be mesmerized.
Co-Hosted by Morgan Freeman?

If Stephen Fry wants to write for Doctor Who, you don't just say yes, you damn well go and get him a pen and a piece of paper.
And a comfy chair and a coffee.

You should also ask him if he wants a sandwich or some cake.

He's English, remember?

That'd be quite a show with him writing it. The best one so far has been the one with the stone angels. That was pretty dark for a Doctor Who epsiode.
I loved the kind of timefuck thing with
the transcript of them talking so he would say what he would say what he would say and so on.

Anyway, STEPHEN FRY WANTS TO WRITE FOR DOCTOR WHO?!
Bring Batman in there somewhere and I will die happily.

This is the best news I've heard all day. Maybe now there might be an episode of Doctor Who I can watch the whole way through without cringing at the plot lines or characters.

I'll gladly admit that, as far as artistic credit goes Doctor Who has been a waste of time and money.

Maybe Stephen will change that, or maybe he sees Doctor Who as something that is iconically cheesy and cringe-worthy and aims only to maintain that.

I always liked him, I would probably watch Dr. Who at least once if he did this. I thought it was slightly amusing that he played a character about as straight as his nose in V for Vendetta.
What's so amusing? He is gay, after all.
I did not know this.
Serious?
Yes, I didn't know, will people now stop quoting me on this?
If only.

Well, when you ask if people will stop quoting, naturally the first thing something is going to do is...

Yeah, I found his V for Vendetta role amusing because it was basically just him (or at least, his public persona) transposed into the world of the movie. It was that kind of perfect that's actually a bit spooky.

(Haha, just read to the end of the thread, sorry for the quote! But I did have something to say other than ORLY? YARLY!)

I was actually planning on snarking about how non-newsy this news story is, but then I read the thread and now I've got the warm and fuzzies from all the squee! It's true it would be very, very awesome. (Sfry-Gneil-Pterry triple bill for 11 season 2, c'mon Moffat, what do you say?)

I'd love this to happen. Love it even more if he were to appear in the episode as a General Melchett type villain.

It'd be interesting to see what he'd do with it.
I have the feeling it would end up being very good.

All I can say is I hope it happens soon...
