For what it's worth, the Warden's Keep quest is actually a lot of fun. The storage chest is handy, yes, but I got something *else* that was even more useful to me...

A blacksmith who could craft something out of the 'star metal' I found in a crater. The smith from Redcliffe hanged himself, leaving me SOL (though I'm told there's another smith somewhere else in the game.) Was nice to have a guy right there who could help me out.

I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition to start with, so he never offered to sell me anything (since I already owned it).

Indeed it is, plus the Warden Commander armor is spiffy.

From what I've read the other blacksmith you can take the starmetal too is Wade in Denerim (the fellow who makes you armor if you bring him drake scales or dragonbone). Apparently he can use the starmetal to make armor, while the blacksmith at Soldier's Peak makes weapons. I haven't ever done that myself though since the starmetal longsword is just so spiffy (especially with a flame rune)!

Yeah, shame on you Bioware! Although Warden's Keep was a pretty fun quest, if rather brutal at the start.

Why is it that no one is complaining that Bioware released a DLC on day 1?
Because, by now, everyone knows that day one DLC is the stuff they work on if they don't take a break when the game goes to be rated, boxed and shipped?

I kinda hoped that the guy was someone put in with a patch, it would have made it just that little less odious.

Reminds me of that chest in Fable 2 at the end of the first quest in the old Heros Hall where when you try to open it it suggests you visit Fable 2.com to earn special items, completely ruins any immersion in the game. :(

Order of the day when returning to camp.

Pet Barkspawn.
Call Morrigan a selfish *****.
Accidentally talk to this guy.
Listen to Alistair be an emo for five minutes.
Have Shale call me "it" for five minutes.
Accidentally talk to this guy.
Get hit on by Zevran.
Accidentally talk to this guy.
Try to ignore the fact that I killed Wynne.
Accidentally talk to this guy.
Accidentally talk to this guy.
Accidentally...

In-game advertising taken too far? What's next? Having NPCs sell you REAL swords and armor?

Heh. That's pretty funny. I know I've had quest givers I've wanted to slaughter in many games. I haven't played DA:O yet, but I know the sentiment all too well.

While I guess it was a decent quest it's NOT worth the asking price. It's just way too short.

It's just that he's in your bloody camp. It wouldn't be so bad if they stuck him somewhere in a tavern or something. But no, he keeps following your bloody camp around constantly taunting you with his bloody exclamation point constantly dragging you out of the game.

i haven't played the game but, isnt that unfair though? i mean i bet the dlc has possibly better gear (as incentive to buy it) so those who get it will have an advantage. because what's the point of getting dlc if all the stuff you get is the same things just in a red or green color. idk i could be wrong but that's extortion tsk, tsk.

We all know that you'll end up buying it Shamus.....it's only a matter of time so don't bother trying to fight it. Personally I am glad I bought it because it solved the dressing issue for my PC....now I have a sweet set of gray warden armor that I put on all my characters throughout all the playthroughs whether they are mages, warriors or rogues. The only proper set of gray warden armor in the game. Then after you finish you can go back to find a vendor from which you can buy(for in-game gold that is) a sweet looking gray warden shield....though it has no enchantments to it....just a standard tier 7 dragonbone shield that looks a million times better than any other shield in the game.

I actually bought the DLC before I ever went to the party camp for the first time, so I never saw this guy.

But yes, there is a mod you can get that removes him. And another that adds a storage chest (or NPC, so that you get the item sorting UI) to your camp. And one that lets you slap Morrigan if she's being annoying.

Mods are good. :)

Edit: Just out of curiosity: does this guy's ! disappear after you've talked to him once about the DLC? Or does it stay there permanently until you actually buy it? Because the former seems perfectly ok to me. The latter would piss me off.

DLC is a crime. just because you added a patch doesnt mean you get to charge us for it. thats what Expansion packs are for.

Having him in a town would make sense, but constantly following you and appearing when you make camp? Ya I would buy a mod that allowed me to kill him. I just got pornsite vibes with this. 'Enjoyed it all so far? Well with payments of moolah, you can get the whole package!'
