To be honest, I wouldnt approve of someone punching Kotick in the happysack.
glueing a little device that cannot be removed and will shock him every time he's a money-grabbing bastard, now THAT would be awesome.

Oh Shamus, you'll always be a crazy old guy with a gun for me.

Hey, I just heard, unless we can sell 1500 Publisher's Club subscriptions [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/registration/subscribe] by the end of next week, we'll have to get rid of all our original content and just re-post stuff from Digg gaming to try and make ends meet. :(

Sorry for breaking the news this way, but it seemed an appropriate context.
Man I knew merging the Escapist with the Girl Scouts was a bad idea, but did anyone listen? Noooooo!

It certainly worked on me. I now know GoG exists. And they have some tempting titles. Still, I'm annoyed by the "trick," so I don't know if I'm buying them.

That comic scared me for a moment. I would die a little inside if GOG went down.

EDIT: Seriously, GOG is like the Jesus of DD.

Very funny comic, Shamus...
And yeah; I'm pretty annoyed at GOG... but on the other hand, they have Descent 1 & 2 and I've been looking for those EVERYWHERE...

Haha, nice one Shamus. I'll have to check out this site now. Any group of people who are a thorn in the side of Bobby Kotick has my support.

Dear Shamus,

I both hate and love you.

I love you for referring me to that wondeful site. I hate you for making me eat Ramen Noodles for pretty much all of October.

Just kidding, I don't really hate Ramen Noodles.

Communication is ALWAYS better than no communication.

Any puclicity may be better than no publicity, but positive publicity is always better than negative.

GoG.com's marketers should have known this.

I appreciate that they haven't truly gone away, but this stunt would only have worked if they coupled it with, say, a week long everything for half-price sale, or twenty new games to look at. One new game? Nah, that's just business as usual. Except now when you purchase it you can't use their own downloader to get it.

GOG.com pretends to disappear, doesn't really, causes Shamus to make this comic, which in turn leads to me to their website, where I bought Rainbow 6. Intriguing.

I was mad at them, so I wrote to tell them that, and got back the weasliest "we're sorry if we upset you" (as opposed to "we're sorry we did something slimy"), so I'm still mad at them.

I hate them for that marketing stunt they pulled...

Just tell us that you're redesigning the fucking site!
No one would talk about it then tho. They are not a big scary publisher corporation that goes of ra swim in their cash pool every morning, they pretty much employ only ~20 people, so while the stunt was a bit of annoying i understand them. Polish gaming market is very poor compared to US/UK/Canda or even Germany.

Plus it showed how people mistake the whole idea of GOG with Steam. All the complains about "Omg i couldn't download the games i bought" is pretty silly, if you bought them you most likely downloaded them already and that's all you need to play them. You don't need to register every time you want to play, you don't need internet connection, you can copy the game on CD and go around the world with it and it still will be playable.

I hate stem for that. I remember I bought a game I think about a year ago. I don't normally buy games for online play. I take the game home, install it, and then I'm told that I can't play it because I'm lacking an internet connection (was at my friend's apartment at the time). So I ask him neighbor if I could borrow their internet to complete the installatin and he's kind enough to allow me. I register the game, go to play it and Is till need internet.

It's why I hate steam games. Don't make me go out, buy a hard copy of the game, and then demand that I register and use an internet conenction to play the game on single player.
