And I just went and bought GTA IV complete Edition on ebay because I thought it'd be along time before this happened.
I really didn't know what to think about the name though. So far all but one of the numbered games have been set in Liberty City (A fictionalised version of New York basically). And since the last 2 games and 2 DLCs have been set there I was hoping they would go somewhere else, hopefully they are going against that and setting it somewhere else. I'm hoping a State again. Maybe a new version of San Andreas.
Still Though, this is going to be fucking brilliant.
Hopefully they have been working on it for long enough to make an interesting trailer.
And hopefully they aren't going to throw it out any time too soon so they have long enough to make it as great a game as they can.

Awww yeah, now that's what I'm talking about! GTA has one of the highest replay value out of any non-multiplayer game, and I'm almost at the point where IV is getting a bit boring. So yeah, this is like music to my ears.

Who cares? Saints Row 3 is coming out next month and I don't think GTA5 will be able to beat it. SR2 certainly destroyed GTA4

Initial Thought: Oh... goodie yet another 'realistic gritty' GTA. I can barely wait

/snore

If this continues the GTA 4 route I will not go near this game with a barge pole.

Rockstar, c'mon. Red Dead 3, not Grand Theft Auto. Let that franchise simmer a bit more, the market is flooded with GTA-style shit right now.

Should be good as long as they fix the controls, the cover system, the shooting, the physics engine, the pacing, the disconnect between the story and game ("I need moar money," says Niko, with $500k in the bank) and make proper use of characters.

Still feeling sore from GTA4 I can't say I'm excited for another beating, devs you better be on your hands and knees over at team Saints Row asking for the definition of fun.

Please bring back flying cars, pedestrians riot cheats and I'll be sold. The lack of cheats to just cause chaos once story was done was just disappointing. One of favorite things to do when done with story was to go on crazed rampages but just fighting cops would get boring.

Isn't Red Dead technically 'GTA style shit' though, but with cowboys?

OT:

I enjoyed GTAIV, I'm hoping for IV's combat system and deep characters, Vice City's atmosphere and humour and San Andreas' scale and freedom(Planes and tanks dammit!).

I have high hopes for GTAV...

#1 - Let me turn the cell phone off, or better yet - let me throw it down the street. The constant friend calls were really annoying IMO.
#2 - Bicycles. The bikes, esp the dirt bike are great fun, but I missed cycling and there's something quite cool about evading the cops on a BMX.
#3 - Character customisation.
#4 - Aircraft. Ok I might suck at flying, but the option would be nice, and would allow for some great stunts.

In fact, all I need from GTAV, is GTA:SA :D - it just seemed like my ideal sandbox game from start to finish.

Dear Rockstar,

Either make this game fucking huge,

or just set it in london with the main character voiced by Jason Statham.

With Love, me.

That's great news! I've yet to play a GTA game which I don't like. Actually, I've yet to play a Rockstar game which I don't like.

It's a unique (ish) spin on the sandbox shooter genre that the market is cluttered with. Saint's Row, the Yakuza and Mafia games, among others are all sandbox games set in a modern city. The wild west is something different.

Not to mention that Red Dead Redemption was received far better than GTA4.

Gee! I wonder what ethnic minority we're going to get as an avatar this time!
Maybe an Eskimo! (political incorrectness intended)

Irrelevant. Saints Row: The Third is coming out in less than a month. :p

But yeah, looking forward to the 2nd now. :3
Agree.

Plus I would be like a million times more excited if they made another Red Dead game instead. GTA has been meh after Vice City imo.

I'm not very surprised, nor am I very excited. GTA4 kind of dropped the ball for me. Just because you can make your game gritty and realistic, doesn't mean you have to. I haven't been very interested in the series since.

This isn't really anything new. We all knew it would be made at some point seeing as Rockstar promised that GTA V would feature a more gritty story than GTA IV. If they released a teaser or maybe even trailer I would be interested though. I didn't really like GTA IV so I don't have high expectations for this one. Especially with the promise they made about the story...
