If only I lived in Australia, I'd put on my imperial guard outfit and walk with him.

Joke 1: What if he finds the droids they were looking for?

Joke 2: On the chance he comes across a Bantha Crossing sign... "Only in Australia."

...

And because I'm such a sad little nerd, I'm noticing the charity is called "Starlight Foundation." Shouldn't there be some ladies in Jem and the Holograms costumes involved?

Is there some insect in Austrailia whose venom has the effect of making you a complete nutcase with a heart of pure gold? 'Cause if there is, that bug bit this guy about a thousand times.

I don't imagine it be that difficult to wear a cool suit (like the one that racecar drivers wear) under that getup... And then it suddenly struck me: July is the dead of winter in Australia, so he probably won't get unbearably hot.

Now, the impressive part is that this guy clearly shatters the mold of the fat Star Wars geek: after all, running a half-marathon in full armor and still posting a decent time? That's impressive!

That just means it's (merely) damn hot, rather than the furnace it is in summer. I'm curious as to how he'll handle the Nullabor, that's going to be a tough leg. That's hundreds of kilometres of dry nothing. He's going to have to carry so much water to get across there alive.

Well, yeah, that's what I meant when I said he won't get unbearably hot. I know that it's not like it'll be 18° C or anything.

And most of the people who do these treks have their team in a car or truck following them in case of emergencies. I'm sure they'll carry enough water so that he can refill whenever he stops, even if there isn't a source of water nearby.

Yeah, but he says he's going to push all his essentials in a cart. If he has a following car for emergencies, that's fine, but if it carries water so he doesn't have to, doesn't that strike you as cheating a bit? He really ought to load up on water at one edge of the Nullabor and try to make it on that water alone across to the other edge. Maybe refill from one of the big public water tanks along the route if he comes across one with some water left in it.

All the same, this guy is amazing (and a little bit insane) and I hope he meets and exceeds his fundraising aim.

Everything about this is awesome... from the idea itself, to the fact that he is part of an organization that actually calls itself part of the Imperial Legion, to the name of the charity he's marching for (the Starlight Foundation? Any organization with that name is awesome by default). Delightful.

God bless that sweaty stormtrooper.

Am I the only one thinking he's somehow validating the feasibility of stormtrooper armor on tatooine? Yeah I'm a nerd.
Good thing the armor is white. And yeah, Tatooine came immediately to mind...

now to implant logic into the argument.

Stormtrooper armor is made to ensure the survival of said trooper...... wouldnt they already have a heat-regulation system in the armor to prevent the person from overheating?

[small]no, because it is plastic and fake...... ._.[/small]
It is made to ensure the survival of the trooper, yet fails to protect them from standard lasers, rocks and spears...

Anyway the fact that he is walking across Australia makes him amazing. Doing it in a Stormtrooper costume makes him a legend. Since he's leaving from Perth, I may be able to see him off.
