Heavy Metal. As the Trucker from Cowboy Bebop said "It's called Heavy Metal and it's some of the most soothing stuff in the world." (paraphrased)
I'm not sure it's all that unusual, looking at the thread and from people I know. I certainly listen to metal when I want to forget about dem feels, and it works. It's so intense it makes you forget about all that shit.

I'm not sure if it's actually that weird, but I find writing music (being me this brings the double whammy of it being metal that I'm writing) is very relaxing. I spend a lot of time sat at my laptop with my bass plugging stuff away into Guitar Pro (I'm short of any musicians to play with/too shy to show people my work even if I did, so I write the guitar and drum parts too, which probably stops it from being too great, but it's a challenge). Having to concentrate that much on something I enjoy so much is pretty much the best way to calm myself down, and has the added bonus of making me drift off into fantasies.

I guess it's a bit weird, you wouldn't expect something that requires a lot of concentration to be calming, but it's quite the opposite.

Watching cats hunt.

I'm not much of a catperson, and I think the internet's obsession with cats is ridiculous, but just look at the critters hunt.

Strangely relaxing.

I like driving. Sometimes I just sneak out at night just to go and drive, nothing else, no objective, just drive. Helps that I've got a decently designed and well-upkept vehicle that has a terrific sound system (I CAN HEAR EVERYTHING) but yeah, I enjoy driving cars, period.
Really? Driving does the exact opposite for me! Although, that said, night driving when no one's around is nice, it's just when there are those other people on roads trying to kill you I have a problem with.

OT: I find solitaire really relaxing. It helps sooth me. I feel soothed by it. Particularly after driving.

Yeah, when I first started I was kinda like that. Nervous wreck. But as I drove more and more, and found my comfort zones within my car and got comfortable with other people on the road, I started finding it really enjoyable. That being said, I do like it when no-one else is on the road. I love driving in at night, in the rain for that reason.

Yeah, you're not alone. Out of curiosity, what do you drive? Me, I drive a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer, which I've called Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, and it is my baby. It's one of my favorite vehicles, and my favorite out of the cars I've driven and owned. Great handling, MPG, and comfort. Hell, at the moment I'm working on upgrading its audio system (Pioneer makes amazing speakers for what you pay) and all I have left to do there is figuring out subwoofer placement and installation. Next on my list is softening up the suspension just a tad more.
Eh, just a plain ol' Nissan Micra, or well, did until it lost its soul through the exhaust pipe (or wherever those souls go). Am car-less at the moment, but I never complain if I'm voted a designated driver at least.

The car I felt best driving though? Was a Volkswagen Passat.
I was car-less for a while, since I lost my Saturn SW in a bad accident last September. That thing was a piece of shit, so don't ever think of getting one. I also heard that Volkswagens are terrific vehicles, though I find it funny that you mention the Passat: I recently saw a Passat that that the "P" and the "at" removed from it's rear badge, so it simply read "ass". It was funny.
