I'm finding it hard.

I'm yet to complete the game. I seem to get stuck on Seth, I find his moves a bit cheap. I have only had three attempts, obviously with numerous continues.
I've mainly been focusing on the trials. The timing is confusing. I'm currently doing Ken's hard trials but I'm stuck on normal for many of the characters. Timing for the charging combos is confusing and there is no demonstration to compare to.

Anyone got any advice for the Vega? jumping HK, MK, light crystal flash combo, can't see to get.

In every SF game Ive played with Akuma in it, he is cheap. I have nothing but contempt for akuma players online. If you like the move set use ken or ryu instead of someone so unbalanced.

Anything that weakens akuma is a good thing.
I have contempt for the Akuma players if and only if they do the following, do nothing but spam fireballs or do nothing but his uppercut. I guess that's the same with and of the Shotokan characters. With the major exception of Sakura, who just plays completely differently.

Im with you, back to back dragon punches using jab just bore everyone involved. Akumas worse with his mid air fireball, his extra damage, his higher priority moves and the way his moves combo up too easily.

If you have any skill you use a regular charecter.

I really want to like it, but the controls kill my enjoyment after a little while. There's just so many times that I attempt a move, only to be hampered by the controls.

Why the hell can't they make some improvements to allow the analogue sticks to be used consistently? My thumb is getting worn out from the d-pad, but the analogue stick is just so inconsistent and touchy, it's almost impossible (for me) to use it properly.

I mean, some of these moves haven't changed in like 20 years! Surely they can be improved?

Here's an example, Skate 2, tricks are done with the right stick, and yeah, it's kinda a steep learning curve until you get used to it, but then, man, I can consistently pull off nollie hardflips and all sorts of tricky tricks, and I never feel like the controller scheme is getting in the way of my enjoyment of the game.

I'm thinking that I need to buy an arcade stick to get the most out of SF4, but that's another $100! If it's made for a console, I should be able to play it on the console, using the usual controller.

I got spammed by a Zangief cheater who kept using the same move on me and picked the same character as me with the rounds set to single round fights just so he could beat me up and score battle points.

I haven't been able to win a single match online since the Super and Ultra combos are alien to me, I can't read the charts to figure them out because it's like they're in Egyptian in the manual with those symbols...

i really enjoyed 4 but with the lack of combo's i don't see it going for long

there's nothing better than going online and and pummeling players .. i have a 100% win streak .. still undefeated (i main ken) and i've fought some high ranking guys

again .. i'm a huge street fighter fan but i swear to god if it wasn't for online fights i wouldn't have bought it

I really like four but I feel as though the difficulty curve has gotten into a car accident and is openly burning up tons of oxygen on easy-street lane. I felt more at ease playing 3rd strike, primalry because I was more attached to the completely new cast of fighters of SFIII than in comparison to the copy-pasta alpha characters that pretty much steal the spot light of the four actual "new" characters.

whoever said yellow isn't a manly color has never fought me with Oro.

Lack of combos? What?
well think about it .. in every other game past altha every character had at least a dozen moves and even long combos that didn't even involve specials

now most chars only have 1 super special move, 3 or 4 special moves and their revenge move

Cammy. Rite thar. Even the guy narrating feels awkward as the game camera starts off massively zoomed into her ass. In response he says "Uhm. Yeah"

But yeah as much as I hate to admit it I'm probably going to get this over nothing but sex appeal.

Wonder if Sakura will still have a panty shot with nearly every single move she does.

every attack except the hadoken. apparently her jumping spike attack is back so you can see 50% more cleavage and 12% more stomach!

My reasons for purchasing this game is quite simple really, I like embarrassing people with Dan and el fuete. It' super dynamic cooking time Biatch.

That is a fantastic form of reassurance

Well, I was more confused about how "long combos" have anything to do with how long a game is played.

I remember most combos going crouching forward/strong -> special -> special -> special in Third Strike and SFA3.

Like in Alpha, a lot of the special moves are actually distance sensitive normals for a huge part of the cast. Chun's jumping heavy punch, for example. And we still haven't explored the whole cancelling mechanic in the game.

Its 100 times more fun of a game since i got the arcade stick. The only thing I dislike still about the SF games is the charge up moves. ie. sonic boom, have to hold back for 2 secs then forward and punch. I avoid characters like guile and vega for this reason. maybe im doing it wrong or something :(

It becomes easier when you realize you can charge moves while you're doing another move. You can, say, do a jumping kick and start charging back for a sonic boom before the kick hits, which is nice (and necessary for any sort of combos with characters like Guile). Needs just a bit more preparation, though.

I like Dan Hibiki. Favorite character of all time. Especially humiliating when you beat someone with his puny-ass fireballs.

GADOUKEN!
