Oh, trust me, I know about the shoulder thing. I've had to ice my shoulder many a time after a Tournament (which I always inevitably lost, but whatever), because I used my shoulder perhaps too much. At the same time, there's a big difference between blocking a punch with your shoulder and blocking a magical fire ball of pure energy.bjj hero said:If you do any sparring you gladly take body or head shot to the arms and shoulder, it hurts but its far better than the shot landing. If you watch Forrest Griffin vs Quentin Jackson you see Forrest throwing head kicks over and over to damage the arms of Rampage when he covers. The plan being to make his hooks less dangerous when he throws them. In SF a hadoken is no different than a regular strike really, similar to Kens dragon punch not leaving 2nd degree burns.Mstrswrd said:Anyway, more on topic, that was awesome. I think the only thing I have a problem with is that Ken blocked a Hadoken with his sholder. Yeah, that's how it happens in game, but, yes, sometimes very minore things can change. It would have been okay for him to have blocked that with his hand or something.
Now, yes, you did mention that in SF the Hadoken tends to basically just be a long distance punch, but if you notice in the other official media (anime, OVA's, etc) it only tends to be that way against people who themselves are immensely strong. Basically, I think it's basically if Ken or Ryu throws a Hadoken or Shoryuken at another Street Fighter, they can just shrug it off, but if they were to throw it at you or me, we'd be killed (exploded or torn in half or burned to death or something).
Of course, now we're getting into partial WFS (Wild Fan Speculation) based off of a variety of media which may or may not be canon (for example, If I reference the SF: Alpha movies, technically, those have been retconned out of the canon).
