Anyway, I'm actually glad this exists. Streets of Rage was never my favourite Sega IP, but I played and enjoyed SoR 3 on the Mega Drive, so, hey, it's nice to see them back, and that the characters have aged.

The 2d/3d brawler genre is back.

Um, is it?

I'm not dissing the genre (even if it isn't really my thing), but I don't recall any massive resurgence. I recall Double Dragon IV getting an installment in 2017 (that was panned) and...that's it.

3D, sure (Devil May Cry for instance), but 2D? Not so much.

2D has had some great stuff too, especially Dragon's Crown. That game was absolutely stunning to look at and was actually pretty damn complex for a genre typically simplistic.

You get to fight dragons while riding on a sabertooth cat!

I want a sequel. I also love Japanese interpretations of western fantasy.

While not a sequel to Dragon's Crown, the studio is making a new game that uses that same gorgeous style. It seems to be a post-apocalyptic mech piloting game.

Oh man, its being done by Lizard Cube, they did the remake of Wonder Boy: the Dragons Trap. It was really good. I am totally down with seeing how they handle this.

Looks good so far, it seems to play about as good as one can hope from an SoR game. Only complaint up to now is being limited to just two of the crew.

Until Adam comes back I have no reason to give the game a chance and will stick to playing Streets of Rage Remake.

Adam's stats in Remake fit the best for my highly aggressive playstyle. Blaze is too fragile while Axel got slower and weaker over time and has always had bad jump attacks.

Blaze is only fragile id you're playing the first game or her SOR1 version in the remake. She's durable in 2, 3, and remake.

Adam was my favorite to play with and Max too in the remake.

Her durability was only slightly buffed as far as I'm concerned because she takes Axel's spot as the generalist of the cast thanks to Skate being more finesse focused and Axel becoming the middleweight brawler. But Blaze still leans too much toward a hit and run style for my liking versus actively rushing down and slugging it out in the opponents' faces with high damage not reliant on grab setups. Adam's 3 star move was goddamn amazing for rushdown damage to soften up the tougher enemies.

I've only played SoR 3, and I don't remember that much of it. I got as far as the stage where you need to break down walls before the bulldozer kills you.

Honestly, what I remember more than anything is Roo, and how I always tried to beat Bruce before him.
