I understand (some) tattoos; they can be downright beautiful.
I understand (some) piercings; subtlety and tastefulness are the name of the game for me. Unfortunately, it's the complete opposite for most people who get them.

But when it comes to stretched ears, it gets so utterly preposterous that it becomes actively repulsive to me. The sheer stupidity, ugliness and pretentiousness of it sets off every anger circuit I have and I get the (controllable) urge to punch the idiots who wear them and pull their stupid fucking stretchers out until their earlobes tear.

I just cannot think of any logic for it and cannot take anyone who does that shit seriously.

This is what it looks like to me:

Pretentiousness? In what way is it pretentious? It has the same logic behind it as tattoos, piercing and fashion in general. Some people just like what it looks like and don't care if it's practical or not. I don't like it but not going to randomly get angry at them for some stupid statement I'm assuming they are making.

Nope, nope, nope. Nopity, nope, nope. It doesn't look attractive at all. Anybody who gauges their ears is not getting in my pants or me getting into theirs. It just fills me with utter revulsion.

I'm one of those people who has to subdue the urge to put a padlock in that stupid thing. Sorry, I just can't stand it.
"Hahahah people do things that I don't like so I must make they suffer for it hahaha"

Anyway.

I've got mine to 4mm and I'll probably try to go to 6mm soon. I'd go higher but it's a really big commitment and a lot of effort. My girlfriend is at 10mm and they look great, but damn it looked like a pain to get there.

I went on field experience for my teaching degree last year and nobody had any issue with my piercings. I had to cover my tattoo, but my ears were no big deal. They aren't that big so I guess that makes sense. The kids had a lot of questions though.

But damn, there sure are a hell of a lot of judgmental people here.

eh why does it matter?

I mean people will always judge/disapprove of what you do...what matters is if you do it for yourself, people get judgy as shit which is their prerogative, it only matters when they get preachy about it (like for example someone who hates tattoos dictating to others what their tattoos should be or should mean)

I don't find it attractive per se but then I have a bit of a "thing" for alternativeness (tats and such) so it wouldn't really bother me

the only issue is it seems irreversible...or at least you'd be looking at surgery to undo it

Most people I know who have it done are morons whose entire appearance is a carefully crafted shroud for their massive lack of personality. They have nothing going on except for being the kind of person who gets body mods. Obviously not everyone,
I'm so glad you know people so well

you know I'm sure we are aware of that

I dunno, it depends. My sister had them but TBH she never used them to their full potential.

I was born cursed with attached earlobes and I think that stretching them may look better.

But I haven't had my ears pierced since I was 10 and they ballooned up with pus. I have terrible luck with infections...

Personally, I think it's gross. And it's visible enough/hard enough to fix that if you're applying to a job where the boss is a social conservative, you're going to look damn unprofessional in their eyes. But if your job prospects are good enough to burn those bridges and you, personally, like the way it looks, I'm not going to argue that it should be banned or anything.

Really, though, you've got to ask yourself whether you're doing it because you think it accentuates your face or because you think it draws attention away from your face. Because if it's the latter, your self-esteem issues are the thing to focus on, not your taste in jewelry

I really don't like them.

Originally I didn't mind them, but that changed after I kept running into people that had them and they looked ridiculous because of how huge they were. The small ones are okay, I guess. It's just not my thing.

Although, sometimes when I see someone with them I feel the urge to throw something through them just to see if they would go through.

Does that make me a bad person?

you can do whatever you want, obviously, but i agree with the majority of people here. imo, stretched earlobes are one of the most unattractive things a person can do to their body.

and im not someone who is totally against making additions to one's body. although i would never get a piercing or tattoo, myself, they can be attractive. still, i prefer a woman have nothing more than regular ear piercings. gauges are a deal breaker for me.

also, ive heard that stretched ears stink like hell. folks will say that is only if they arent properly cleaned, but honestly, do you really want to create more work for yourself just to make sure your earlobes dont smell like rotting flesh?

at the very least, you should at least give yourself a year to think about it. youve seen here that, should you go through with it, you will be making yourself unattractive in the eyes of a LOT of people.

I'm okay with smallish plugs, but I tend to like the piercings and tattoos look. When they get too big I get pretty turned off, but I think I like them more than most. Though I LOVE helix piercings with a passion.

I don't like it, not one bit. A small stretch doesn't look too bad but anything beyond that just looks disgusting. With people who have massively stretched their ears I can't help but think of how that will look when they're older and it sort of gives the message of "I don't take the future into consideration when making decisions". Similar to the people who get their tongues split.

To each their own since some people probably do find it attractive but I just find it to be a huge turnoff.

It looks alright, up to a point, but even then it only looks remotely cool with the gauges in. Stretched ears without gauges will ALWAYS look stupid.

It's not my cup of tea, but even if it was I wouldn't have it done for practical reasons. I've a full sleeve tattoo, which I'm expanding to 2 full sleeves and a full back piece next year, but they can be covered up if needs be and don't get in the way.

Ear stretching though gives you something to snag on other things, and also something for other people to grab and rip in a fight. I do like eyebrow piercings and think they look great if done right, but again because they may get caught or ripped out in various circumstances (or even affect your eye in someway) I won't have it done either.

Wait what? Damn you kids, im 22 and you already make me feel old!

What do you mean stretch the ears? This is literaly the first time i hear someone say that....
You mean like those piercings in ears with big holes?

The first thing that came to mind was someone trying to make their ears "stretched" as in "look like elf ears".....

btw im not trying to make fun of someone or something, it is literally the first time i hear this....

nope. ugly and more than likely a deal breaker if you are a girl and i have anything less than a stalker class interest in you.
If you are a lawyer and you are trying to lawyer me some law and i find out you are stretching your ears i'm walking out.
if you are a doctor and you tried to doctor me back to health with giant stupid ear holes i would walk out.

everyone should feel free to do what they want with their bodies but try and keep in mind that other people who you may want to make an impression on may not look favorably on your choices.
