For those who thought this was going to be an opportunity for a TSA rant, Stripsearch is a Penny Arcade reality TV program produced by the Loading Ready Run guys (with Graham as host!) about comic artists competing for a chance to work at Penny Arcade. It's almost nothing like what I traditionally associate with Penny Arcade or Loading Read Run. It can be found here:

So what do people think? I come from a social group that traditional dumps a heap of scorn on all reality TV (except the Apprentice) so it's a bit weird to see the PA and LRR people do one straight up, but webcomics aren't as tacky as some of the normal reality TV and it's turning out to be surprisingly interesting and it's fascinating to watch how quickly and skillfully some of these artists operate. The first real challenge (Ep 3) had them create and draw an original t-shirt design in 1 hour and there was some really impressive work (and the winners work is currently available from the PA store.

I can't believe the 2 nicest people went up for elimination first. I really dug Katie's design (although it should have been pink and purple= and thought it was competing for one of the best. And unlike most, it was actually creative. Alex's was weaker, but the person with the hyphened shirt should have been up there with him. And it was more than a little cruel having the winner pick the losers. I would have been glad not to win.

I was trying to figure out how they could make a comic artist search fun, but I'm enjoying the show so far.
.
Despite her explanations, I have no doubt in my mind that Katie went up because she was the best. I thought amy's one was the worst tbh, why are they reaching for a magnifying glass? They're not striving to search for something. And I really didn't like the style the arms/hands were drawn in.

Was the winner the one who was talking about all the women eyeing each other up and viewing themselves as the real competition? If it was, I guess it makes sense that she would do that. I'm slightly impressed (worried?) that someone can jump so quickly to being so calculating.

I like penny arcade a lot and enjoy a few shows on PA-TV but this show kind of sucks. Honestly I haven't seen one thing drawn so far that is impressive. I mean a couple of sketches done in 2 minutes and a few basic logos that were practically copy-pasted.

Maybe if they showed the contestants interacting and living together some so we could get to know them and care about them it would help. Also maybe give them a decent amount of time so they can actually present something worth looking at. Oh and did anyone else think their presentations were garbage? It's because they weren't proud of the rush job things they were presenting either.

Maybe when Mike/Jerry show up they will be able to carry the show.

PS: No offense to anyone who liked it.
