Seriously get a new one, it's not gunna cost you a million bucks on Ebay or Craigslist. This guy is a noob at life.
Or he just doesn't have some rich ass parents who buy him all the console or just isn't some stupid kiddy with money up the arse from his grandparents...

EDIT: Stop beeing so friendly to the Company, the are making billions per year and if they lose 1 million won't hurt them. Also, please don't come with things like "justice". Big companies are the most just-less "things" in the world.

I agree with him because if US Airways should have helped him track down his property and reported the incident to the police. After all it happened while they were providing a service. Also form the sound of it the airline was not interested in helping him possibly because he was a student. I really hope he wins this.

I think he deserves it simply because U.S. Airways is one of the airlines that charges for baggage storage. If I'm paying to have my bag under the plane, it should be respected >_>

Does "specialized harddrive" scream "This thing was illegally chipped" to anyone else?

Why did we all miss the part where he's going to Yale? Looks like he's a rich kid who knows a lot of lawyers.

Yeah, if it was his "primary DVD player" he may well have had a 500gig drive in it to... "watch DVDs" on. And by that I mean P1R4CY LOL.

"Further, our publicly available baggage policies specifically exclude liability for electronics checked in luggage," she said.
Wait, doesn't that basically mean that airlines condone theft of electronics by their employees?
Doubleyou-tee-EFF?!

Now, I'd never check electronics anyway because I figure if I'm not using it on the flight it doesn't need to go with me, but this doesn't seem like it should be legal.
No liability for damage, I understand, but theft?
They should at least be responsible for attempting some kind of investigation - there aren't more than 15 people who handle a bag for any one flight, and at least one of those does so in full view of the customer (check counter clerks).

And why doesn't the airline take responsability for lost electronics? If I were to check a computer, and find it gone when I got to where I was going, I would go absolutly nuts.

And that friends, is why you take anything you really care about on the plane with you. I'd never trust the airlines with any of my electronics in my checked bags.

US Airways spokeswoman Valerie Wunder said she was unaware of the suit but noted that "federal loss limits" restrict the liability of airlines for lost luggage to a maximum of $3300 per bag. "Further, our publicly available baggage policies specifically exclude liability for electronics checked in luggage," she said.
I love that line I bolded... "Well, that sign over there says that anything we steal that has electronics, is not our responsibility." How lovely.

Wow why doesn't he just buy a new one?
Im glad you think theft and corporate abuse is perfectly fine. So if I walk into your house and unplug your computer and take it, don't bother calling the police, because by your own logic you should just go buy a new one.

I think that $1,000,000 is a great max number to set because then hes garunteed an amount that actually means something from the inevitable settlement. So a reasonable $20,000 settlement (Or free air travel for life) seems fair to me. Afterall if you steal as a private citizen and get caught, you not only give the items back but are then sentenced to some form of imprisonment (usually). Its only right that the airline should have to suffer some form of consquence for their lack of responsibility and especially for their lack of caring in the matter.

Also it is amazing the freedoms that airlines have in taking personal property under the guise of "confiscating potentially hazardous items". Lookup the amount and types of items they can take and never return. It's mind boggling.

wow 1 million is a high price surely legal fees the cost and some extra for his time and effort lost. still thats a kick in the head the airline says yeah it was stolen and probably by someone we employ but we arent responsible its in the thing everyone clearly reads before booking a flight
