Separate addition to pointless stuff, but actually more related than first thought; dodge rolling through every door in Dead Cells instead of opening them like a gentlebear. Even innocent shopkeepers doors. They just smash apart so satisfyingly. And they fix themselves next run regardless. This conscience is clear! sort of
YUSH, all doors must be destroyed!

I hate myself for falling into pedantry with this, but HZD doesn't attempt or even claim realism like Dark Souls does when it comes to player body movement.
ROFL, body realism? Sorry but I find this really funny :D That game has people in FULL PLATE, tumbling around like a teenage gymnast. I wouldn't call that realistic body movement. If they were being realistic, that person would end up stuck on the ground, flailing like a turtle until they finally got up (long after the DS monsters ate them)

I'll grant you they're more mobile and agile than anticipated, but I doubt they're mobile and agile enough to squeeze those maneuvers into the precious few i-frames Dark Souls demands at times. Just saying, Sanctuary Guardian wouldn't be impressed...

Heyyy, was it not implied i was talking in comparison to HZD, not real life, cause the original post was replying to was comparing only the two? I have literally no idea what real life monster hunters do as it is, so won't attempt to assume. Perhaps I should've added more words to avoid this confusion at the time, but i really waffle on too much as it is.

For me, the needless thing I do in games is clear out the "fog of war" on maps. Granted sometimes doing this adds things to the map that is helpful, but for the most part you don't NEED to clear out ALL of the fog.
My most recent example is Ghost of Tsushima (great game). I cleared out ALL the fog of war from the map. You. Do Not. NEED TO DO THAT!
The markers for things mostly pop up in the fog by themselves, and you can just let the wind guide you to undiscovered stuff (evening picking which kind of thing the wind looks for you).

But for my first playthorugh, I just had to finish clearing out the fog. For the first two acts of the game on the first two parts of the Island, this wasn't too bad. Act 1 you want to explore anyway, and in act 2 you still want to explore the new parts and "grow you legend" so you can take on the tougher enemies. However, in Act 3 I had all the abilities unlocked, got most of the cosmetic items I wanted, and there were some spots I had to wait to clear cause I couldn't go there yet cause the location was main story related or related to the last quest of a ally.

Plus, there was just less stuff to get while exploring at that point, so a lot of the exploring was only walking around clearing the fog with fewer stops, and again by that point I've already made Jin as strong as he can be so while the random fights are still fun, they are a bit less rewarding than before. Basically added a whole day to my play time of the game just finishing to clear the fog of war. To be clear, I don't mean it took me longer cause I had to grind for experience, find collectibles, or secrets. I mean just riding my horse around while in the outfit that clears more of the fog added a LOT of time to my playthrough on it's own.

Again, you don't need to do this, I recommend you don't, but I just had to since I already started and it felt like the last patches of fog of war was mocking me while blocking me from seeing a nice clear map. However, you'll be fine if you just leave it there and just go wherever you need to go to play the story, side stories, and collect things. I just didn't like that how it looked on the map. Personal issue. xD

RDR2 online is the king of pointless stuff I do anyway. Like going through all the button presses and animations of petting the dog at the camp, none of which has any statistical or gameplay impact on the dog or the character, but I do anyway just to see the tail wag and feel less guilty about the long trips. Waving at NPCs when you've already maxed out your good guy meter. Polishing guns and aiming down their sights in third person just for the sense of accomplishment. Being in a city or back at camp whenever I log off. Etc.

I also try to use every move and gadget in every fight in the Arkham games, just because it feels more "Batman" when you use everything you've got. I know doing this helps the combo and raises XP dividends, in theory, but I'll go out of my way and undermine a perfectly good if boring winning strategy just for the sense of flair.

Yeah to the first. I also wonder if it really matters to hitch your horse anywhere. Maybe to avoid having it wander far if you’re expecting it to be in an exact location, but usually in those cases you’d just call it anyways vs backtracking.

Apparently it helps with bonding but the whistle works as long as your not too far away.

I once ended up in the middle of the map without my horse(it was a LONG way away) and....yeah, that was FUN. I think I'd stolen a wagon for one of the missions but forgot to have the horse follow me, so my horse was still up near where I stole the wagon from. I think I eventually saved and reloaded the save to get the horse to spawn nearby.
