Stupidest reason to shoot down a game

first i would say if it is not on my console is must blow and i must make it my mission in life to degrade the game not on my console even tho i have never played it, never seen it, and obviously will not buy it cause it is not on my console, but i mist flame troll and convince the people with that console to not buy that game that their platform of choice sucks and they fail at life in general.

second nitpicking gfx, yea many older games gfx suck, but some are better games than 80% of the games out today. and picking apart games based on slight graphical difference between once again your console vs the other.

third "it's not a game it's an interactive movie" any game that has too many cutscenes for the players taste and therefore it negates any of the game you get to play because of said cutscenes.

those would be my top 3.

And what's the deal with airplane bathrooms? Why do they need a mirror in there? Are people actually brushing their teeth in there?

Exactly. Games that you like are "great" and he was wrong for not agreeing based on screenshots. It's not like certain people know what kind of games they enjoy just by looking at the screenshots, people just like the same thing. That's why reviews are so perfect, no smart person would ever dislike HL2 or TF2. And fable 2 is universally boring, not one person on the face of the earth has ever enjoyed that game and he is a silly kid for thinking he might.

But this is the same friend that bought Mass Effect and 'Splosion Man based on my recommendation and loved both; and he had recommended Fallout 3 to me, which I adore now. So we respect each other's opinions, but what he did just set a new low.

Well for me saying it's on the Wii is a genuine reason to dislike a game as the motion control is just awful, Twilight Princess GC >>>>>>>> Twilight Princess Wii.

Twilight Princess WAS originally made for Gamecube.

And at the time you could get a Gamecube for $20 or $250 for a new Wii... I picked GC for practicality and also because it actually had a KICK ASS line-up of games.

Though I am starting to realise what a kick ass platform the Wii is and I really shouldn't worry about graphics (all console suck compared to PC graphics) and console are supposed to be for unique packaged experiences which the Wii excels at, PS3 & 360 just seem to be trying to do what PC is best at.

I hate it when people criticize a protagonist for not being manly (read: only speaks in one-liners, has huge muscles, and never shows emotion) enough.

I know, but that is still no excuse for a character like Raiden. He wasn't just unmanly, he was just annoying, un-confident, incompetent and unsure while being a passive-aggressive whiner half the time.

I don't want soulless meatheads, but I don't want whiny douchebags either. I mean I prefer Fenix to Raiden, at least Fenix is tolerable, boring but not annoying.

At the most basic level I want a character like Mario; affable, confident and determined yet relaxed and joyful. Or Nico Bellic, appropriately cynical yet cool and in control through wit and charm... the many people he meets he quickly makes friendships with, yet is assertive and aggressive against threats and enemies.

And that's if I want an actual protagonist with character at all, a blank slate is ideal for immersion or moulding to particular idea for RPGs.

Though I favour Valve's approach to characters in Team Fortress 2 - practically a pastiche of machismo mercenaries - and the two Left 4 Dead games with Whenon-esque characters that bond through fraternal banter, the aim is to be witty and fun, not "macho" and aggressive posing.

The better wii games don't use the shitty motion control.

Metroid was alright, but the controls were still hard to use.
Having a game on the wii eliminates the entire fps genre, i honestly think it can't be done.

Also, using your logic, I can say that Megaman 1,2,3,4,9 and 10 all suck because they are on the wii.

Megaman on the PSP doesn't prove that all PSP games have great controls. Megaman games are pretty easy to port on to any modern day console.

"It looks childish" has to be one I get fairly annoyed at. Just because a game has pretty bright colours doesn't mean it won't be fun and (heaven forbid) actually a good game.

I also had a friend that wouldn't play Morrowind at first because he hated the combat system (he's ok with playing it now strangely), whereas I personally think that it adds to the feel of the game. That's just how I see it though, not really a stupid reason to hate it I guess.

I am pretty guilty of not playing a "kiddy" looking game. I was watching my cousin play the new banjo and kazooie that i got for free with my 360 (i had to buy a new one, bet you can't guess why) and it looked like more fun than any of the games i just bought.

Well that's what happens when you attach wheels to your 360 and try to use it to jump over homeless people. Wait, you mean that's not what happened?

You summed it up right there, people that think graphics are everything and don't care about the storyline or gameplay are shallow and need to learn theres more to life then shiny lights. Thats not to say graphics arnt apart of a good game, but at the end of the day its not the be all and end all.

I'm very shallow then. It doesn't have to have wonderful graphics, but it can't be too blocky.

I'm refering to people that only play top of the line graphics, the best of the best, and get games because they have the best graphics. Its like people that pick their partner based on looks, its shallow and as time goes on the looks lost their novelty.
