It wouldn't be so bad if it were only 8-year-old boys bitching about lack of sarcastic quote "hardcore" content, but that's a common complaint amongst adults who were supposed to have passed through the larval stage of being overly impressed by GOOOOOORE ages ago. Yeah, I know you think you're a big man with your screen full of bloodied entrails, but some of us are secure enough in our masculinity that we know how to find joy in the few weird, quirky, somewhat cartoonish games that manage to slip out between the utterly unstimulating brown and grey brick walls of macho games we've complacently come to accept as the norm.

Of course that's only one of many reasons that I have in mind, but it's the one that hasn't been referenced yet. Apart from that, I mostly agree with the above posts.

You summed it up right there, people that think graphics are everything and don't care about the storyline or gameplay are shallow and need to learn theres more to life then shiny lights. Thats not to say graphics arnt apart of a good game, but at the end of the day its not the be all and end all.omega_peaches said:

The second point is raw bullshit.
I hate it when people criticize a protagonist for not being manly (read: only speaks in one-liners, has huge muscles, and never shows emotion) enough.
I think Marcus Fenix has shown us why uber-manly leads aren't always favorable.
Also, I've tried to get people to play the old-school FF games, and once I got the response that "that's like...a cartoon. How am I supposed to take a cartoon seriously?"
I didn't mention that 3D games are technically just nice-looking "cartoons", because I didn't feel like watching his mind 'asplode.
