On my highschool, smoking wasn't allowed on school grounds. So everyone took 1 step outside of the fence and smoked. Pretty damn stupid if you ask me.

Ever heard of "Passive Smoking"? I think that's the real reason for this "stupid" ban, personally I gag whenever I inhale cigarette smoke, I doubt I'm the only one who finds it utterly disgusting.

Yet you find cats smoking cool?

Ash and Misty were both perpetually 10 years old, until one of the more recent series aged Ash up to a whooping 13 years of age. In any case, if you are remembering right there's no way they actually showed her nude, racier anime then Pokemon use steam to sensor bath scenes.

I kinda' agree with that one. There's this 12 year old couple at my school who practically mount each other ALL THE FUCKING TIME.

If thats bad, I can't even hold hands with my girlfriend without teachers flipping out. They constantly seperate us and they constantly have teachers (Mostly my favorite teacher who doesnt really care =D) watching us.

i know this has been said but basically anything electronic on school grounds. Mostly cell phones; we're still going to text and most teachers don't care at my school as long as it's not during a lecture or test.

In primary school, all pokemon cards, games and merchandise were banned... Because Pokemon evolved (hurray catholic school!)

Not sure, but the Headteacher was an ex-mother superior, she also said pokemon taught devil worship.

I've seen a few people say their Schools Firewall was stupid, But I think my High school's wins. It was so restrictive we couldn't even access Google. In our first year of High School we found the back door, but if you were caught using it you would loose your computer privileges for the year, and the back door was removed before the next year started. Out computers were useless as Research Aid's as the only thing you would be able to access is the "blocked page" page >.>

Well, one pseudo-teacher (sadly, with authority outside classes) banned flip flops. Of course, the fact that she kept wearing them was one of the many reasons she was NOT well liked.

Things get banned all the time. Sometimes its for legitimate reasons. Other times the reasoning behind seems to of been done by someone with half a brain.

The stupidest i can think of is when china banned football manager 05' for portraying Tibet as a country. China does a lot of stupid stuff but cmon'!

Banning girls in video games 4-6 years ago. Cmon guys, we just want to play too. :3

Where were women banned from video games?? That one would have to come close to winning for most stupid.

Actually someone did post that earlier in the thread, and it turns out it was never really banned.

My Elementary School banned computers during indoor recess, i can't exactly remember why, but i think it had to do with me showing the whole class the Epic Movie trailer, everyone crowded around the computer, all thought it was hilarious.

OT: When I was in school they banned "We Are the Champions" from being played at football games because the year before the band started it up with less than 30 seconds left with our school ahead in the State Championship and lost the game in the next 20 seconds.

i wasn't trying to say it's a great book or anything, i'm just saying it being "sooooo contraversal" and it getting banned for that "fact" is the stupidest ban ever

In my old city of residence (Coon Rapids, Minnesota) there is a city ordinance that bans trains from using their horns at railroad crossings due to people living near railroad tracks who complained about horns at night.

To add insult to injury: the number of injuries/deaths at railroad crossings in that city has skyrocketed ever since, and there's no indication that the ordinance is ever going to be repealed.

Lame, I mean the US could recognize Taiwan and Hong Kong as independent countries (which Taiwan is but I don't know about Hong Kong)but Tibet is ignored?

The stupidest bans tend to be in schools because of retarded moms that base their parenting off Fox news and other stupid media outlets. Like banning the Giver from Elementary schools because they thought their kids aren't smart enough to not act like the people in that book.

Well, it might not be THE stupidest ban, but schools banning cellphones doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I mean, yeah, take them up if you see people using them during class, but cellphones make communication with parents for afterschool activities about 99 times easier. Luckily my school realized this and adopted the same policy I described.

The ban of cellphones on planes is pretty stupid. No modern plane can be effected by the tiny signal from a phone, yet the fear that this ban has created resulted in some kid getting punched when he refused to turn his phone off (the attacker, a 52 year old, is facing assault charges but seems to have felt justified because he was defending everyones lives).

There was an energy drink released here in NZ which got banned cos it contained trace amounts of a chemical that could potentially cause cancer. The importer complained saying the chemical was in cigarettes in ten times the concentration and those were legal. Of course while a valid arguement it didn't help him.

And when I finally got to watch Clockwork Orange, I thought "OMG it got banned for years, it must be brutal!". Man was I disappointed...
