Why is every change in a contemporary human physical form always a mutation? Do we see ourselves as THAT perfect that any change ever has to be a mutation.? Even in our media like with the X-men, they get extraordinary powers making them better than humans but are they are mutants. However, in this particular case something that lowers an immune system strikes me as a de-evolution. Now, knowing that Australia now has the most over weight people in relation to its population it could be an elaborate move of propaganda to actually help benefit the people by using words with such stigma as mutation.
Well I think you need to check your definition of "mutation"

The changing of the structure of a gene, resulting in a variant form that may be transmitted to subsequent generations, caused by the alteration of single base units in DNA, or the deletion, insertion, or rearrangement of larger sections of genes or chromosomes.
that's from the New Oxford American Dictionary

Mutations have a bad connotation in our society. This in my opinion is tragic... In natural selection mutations can lead to an increase in a species fitness.

Also killing people would be counter productive...
converting them to energy would be funny but also counter productive...
besides i want to make a lot of money...
Haha that was my point. About the stigma surrounding the word Mutation. Evolution is nothing but a string of mutations.

I think this is a hoax. When they said "Sugar Hit" it made it sound like sugar was a drug.

No worries, I made some mistakes in my wording. The fault is mine.

I must ponder this...
Considering, after all, the body tends to break down most complex foods into some form or other of sugar I guess we are pretty screwed as a species if this is really bad for us... How did we manage to get this far *Gasp*.

I was sipping a Pepsi during that. TBH, I don't see how that is possible, what does Sucrose do, cleave the Hydrogen bonds in your DNA? This seems far-fetched, but I would certainly be all for getting to the bottom of this. If any finds relevant information, please post here.
Is what I am wondering too... how exactly does it mutate things on a DNA level. Really now, what chemical reactions are happening during the reproduction phase of DNA, the most vulnerable stage, thanks to the introduction of sugar into the blood stream? All I can find, when I search even the so called 'institutes' pages on this matter is that one quote from that one guy who said 'this mutates you.'

Tell me how, exactly how does this alter our DNA patterns!

Yeah! You can be X-MAN!

What would be your X-man name? The Insulinator? Or perhaps "Give me a Minute to catchup" man!

This article was written by Margaret Furtardo, huh? More like MARGARET RETARDO! (sorry, i had to that)

"That's according to a recent Australian study published in the Journal of Experimental Medicine"

Australian study....that explains it all.

I wouldnt call it mutations, it just changes how your cells work temporarily not like it unzips your DNA structure and starts causeing massive mutations more commonly caused by mutenagens such as tobacco and asbestos.
