On an even larger scale, entropy (if that qualifies as a universal force) will fuck everything over in the end. "All things tend to disorder" is like THE universal law.

actually THE universal law is that all things seek to be balanced, it is one of the basics of all reactions, they seek to wind down to a less violent or energetic state, its just that, to get there some pretty crazy shit has to happen.

The universe is tending to disorder, yes, as it is a closed system. The planet however is not, as the sun is providing energy, thus making things with negative entropy (i.e. things that decrease the entropy of the planet) possible. It is not true that all systems 'try' to reach the lowest energetic state; instead they try to reach the lowest 'free-energy',

As U is the energy of the system, and S the entropy (T is the temperature), we see that a balance of S and U is required.

Basically, what I'm saying is that the 'apocalypse' (as in the destruction of Earth) won't occur until the Sun has gone. However this does not mean that humanity won't have destroyed itself before then.
