Living in Louisiana and watching the Saints play in the Superbowl, we felt obligated to boil crawfish.

If anyone has not had boiled crawfish, I feel deeply sorry for you. That is the best food in the entire world.

I had between 12 and 15 slices of the best Pizza in Saskatoon, some Lays BBQ-flavoured chips, and a 710mL bottle of 7up.

At the Escapist party, we had some amazing dip for chips, and the most delicious ribs I have ever had. Virgil doesn't just keep the site running, he makes freakin' awesome ribs.

I had Pizza. And it was good. Better than the Australian attempt to provide local commentary on the game.
I have to admit I've always been intrigued by how "foreign" (to us) channels broadcast/report on the Super Bowl; if they try to add their own color commentary or just go with what the Americans are saying.

I remember being really interested when I found out that there was one bar in Reykjavik, Iceland, where everybody goes to watch the Super Bowl, and it's open until like 4 AM or some such. Cultural divides are just very fascinating to me.

Culture really is an interesting subject. It can be so diverse, but still have many universal truths. Its become a huge part of my college life since i switched majors. Hopefully, I will have the chance to travel at some point in life.

You know, just by listing the food at the party I might actually be enticed to come over to America, make some friends (I know some guys I guess) and be there for a SuperBowl win.

I'll be sure to find two different groups of friends, each supporting the other team.

I won't watch the game, because sports isn't my thing, but I'll sure be eating afterwards. :D

Funny thing, don't watch American Football myself, but my Grandma LOVES IT. So, I made:

- Lamb Curry
- Vegan Chocolate Mocha Cake (REALLY good)
- Avocado Salad.

If you're interested, the British coverage (including the match) is available to watch on-demand for the rest of the week:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00qsc6f/Super_Bowl_Live/

Technically you shouldn't be able to watch BBC iPlayer outside of the UK, but your mileage may vary - I have friends in various countries who have no trouble. Even so, there's ways around it if you're interested enough to Google for proxies.

From what I saw, which was just the 4th: they had three guys in the studio - a regular presenter who seemed to know what he was talking about and two Americans, presumably former players (EDIT: one is the current 49ers quarterback, Alex Smith, the other is a guy who commentates for the channel that usually shows it over here). Over in the stadium they had two guys - a former NFL player and some English guy who usually presents motorsports.

The most surprising thing for me was that I actually enjoyed what I saw. I didn't have a clue what was going on, obviously, but soon afterwards I had a look around and found three really good official NFL sites (two specifically made for the UK!) that explain everything to complete newcomers. I was really impressed at how hard they're working to get new fans in and get them up to speed... to the point where I can see myself getting really into it. I like the way there's something a bit theatrical about it, without going over the top and becoming ridiculous like pro wrestling tends to do. We don't really have that sort of entertainment dimension in sports over here, it's all about the game with just a bit of commentary and analysis. I'll definitely be following the next season. For now, I'm just gonna watch the other three quarters that I missed on Sunday - I'm pretty sure I'll at least be able to work out what's going on this time.

That's really cool, actually. I can imagine that watching football without knowing what's going on would be confusing as hell (much like I remember catching a Cricket match when I was in Jamaica and just /boggling) but I'm glad to hear you liked it! It's really a fun game when you get into it, thinking about the strategy and the different play calls. I see why some people don't like it, but I'm a fan :)
